The Ministry of Agriculture has said that it was ready and looks forward to closely working and cooperating with the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) to undergo the full-scale investigation into allegations of corruption levied against the senior management team at the Ministry of Agriculture. .
According to a release from the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), it said it was in formal receipt of the request from the LACC under the signature of the Executive Chairperson and dated December 29, 2021 informing the MOA that it will be “conducting an Institutional Corruption Risks Assessment on all of its accompanying activities and projects.”
“The letter further indicated that “The Education and Prevention Division of the LACC will start the engagement process with your office in the soonest time possible leading to the commencement of the risk assessment exercise.
“The MoA welcomes this exercise and looks forward to closely working and cooperating with the LACC to ensure that the assessment is transparently conducted and recommended outcomes are implemented in keeping with Public Financial Management Laws of Liberia”, the release said. .
The release further said that the social media posts – as from January 10. 2022 – Allegedly coming from the LACC of plans to place the entire MoA leadership under investigation have not been officially or formally communicated.
It said nevertheless, in the spirit of good public sector governance, and should such an investigation be ordered, the MOA pledges its readiness to collaborate fully and as outlined by law.
Monday, January 10, 2022, the LACC issued a release stating that it has placed the entire leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture under full-scale corruption investigation for issues of conflict of interest, financial improprieties and other inappropriate awarding of agro contracts amounting to millions of United States Dollars.
