With 16 months left for the much-anticipated 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections, the former governing Unity Party (UP), has kicked off a series of politically strategic tours of the 15 political subdivisions, beginning with Liberia’s second most populous county, Nimba. Using the tour to strengthen the party’s local chapter, UP Chairman Amin Modad and his entourage empowered UPians in Saclepea and Sanniquellie.
Excitingly welcomed by scores of partisans and well-wishers in Saclepea and Sanniquellie, the UP held town hall meetings during which partisans and well-wishers expressed their concerns and aspirations, while misinformation, disinformation and other negative propagandas were dispelled and the 2023 presidential candidacy of the party’s Standard Bearer, former Vice President Joseph Nyuma Boakai was reaffirmed.
The party also reaffirmed its cohesiveness and preparedness to obtain victory in 2023 despite its withdrawal from the CPP and current attempts to deny it from fielding candidate in the impending Lofa County Senatorial Bi-Election, and eventually deny it from fielding candidates in the 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections.
The visit was also used to revive the spirit and confidence of UP partisans, supporters and well-wishers, open the party headquarters in Nimba, and provide opportunity for thousands of others wanting to join the party, something that will be replicated in the other 14 counties of Liberia.
UP Chairman Amin Modad expressed profound thanks and appreciation to Standard Bearer Joseph Nyuma Boakai and all committed and dedicated partisans both at home and abroad for their financial, material and political support to ensure a resounding success of these strategically important tours.
Mr. Modad expressed particular sentiments and special recognition for some county chairpersons who travelled through very difficult terrains to demonstrate their commitment and dedication to party work.
The UP Chairman Amin Modad made several notable donations during the tour. According to Chairman Modad, his donations are intended to make the Nimba Chapter of the party more vibrant and forceful. The Chairman donated 3 motorbikes for youth, women, and leadership operations; provided LD60, 000 to purchase land for construction of the county HQ; a laptop, PA System and an iPhone for effective communication.
Independent journalists who covered the first leg of the Unity Party’s county tours in Nimba described it as impressive, in a county that is extremely strategic in the body politics of Liberia.
Nimba is on record to have always been a crucial decider of presidential victories generally, but particularly for the Unity Party (2005 & 2011).
