MONROVIA – In an effort to create employment opportunities through digital transformation, Orange Liberia in observance of her one million Orange Money customer service unveiled a state-of-the-art Digital Club Center worth a whopping $120,000.00 at the William V. S. Tubman University in Harper City, Maryland County on Friday, March 28, 2025.
During the occasion marking the official inauguration ceremony of Orange Digital Center Club at the Tubman University, Mr. Zaza Mulbah, Senior Manager of the Orange Digital Center, described the colorful event as a significant occasion not only for Orange Liberia and the William VS Tubman University but also for the future of the young people in Harper, Maryland County, and Liberia as a whole.
“Standing here today as both the Senior Manager Orange Digital Centre and the Project Manager for this initiative fills me with immense pride and gratitude, as we officially launch and inaugurate the Orange Digital Center Club at Tubman University,” Mulbah stressed.
According to the Project Manager, the Orange Digital Center is a testament to the power of partnership which could not have been possible without the collective effort and support of numerous individuals, departments and partners with sincere support. He applauded and acknowledged those who have been instrumental in making the Digital Center a reality.
In furtherance, Mulbah thanked GIZ and the Orange Foundation for their invaluable support towards the project, while pointing out the vision and commitment of Mr. Marius Yao, CEO Orange Liberia, for his commitment to ensuring digital empowerment in Liberia.
He also maintained commended Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, President of the Tubman University, for having the project as a broad road map that will pave the way of talented young brains at the university and Liberia as a nation. He termed the collaboration of Tubman University administration and Orange Liberia as crucial, especially during the transporting of the equipment while they were undertaking the project. He said the passion and expertise of both institutions, Tubman University and Orange Liberia, were the driving force for making the project a success.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are not only sampling opening doors today, we are initiating a movement fueled by innovation, driven by opportunities and by resolution of digital empowerment for young and youthful Liberian students,” Mr. Mulbah said.
The Orange Senior Manager said the TU center offers additional resources such as a vibrant co-working space, alongside a functional coding school and a FabLab. Mulbah said the comprehensive approach will provide free and high quality training in essential digital skills directly benefiting talented students and young people of the southeastern region.
Zaza pointed out that the digital club is designed to be more than just a training facility; but a center of hope where academic learning is enhanced and digital capabilities are strengthened and pathway of fulfilling careers are forged.
He described it as a place where students and young professionals will connect with industrious leaders to gain practical knowledge experiences and ultimately contribute to Liberia’s digital economy. Manager Mulbah explained that this investment underscores Orange Liberia commitment to providing the resources necessary for success.
Addressing the audience in a special remark, the Chief Executive Officer CEO of Orange Liberia, Mr. Marius Yao, said the launch of the Orange Digital Club Center is far more than an event; it is the reaffirmation of Orange Liberia’s collective commitment to fostering digital inclusion, driving innovation and empowering the youth of Liberia to take their rightful place in society, in the framework of digital transformation.
Yao said, in line with the Liberian government digital vision, Orange Liberia digital center represents a strategic investment in the country’s future. He disclosed that the center is designed to equip young Liberian with digital skills, tools, and resources. He said Orange belief that the future of this country rest in the hands of the youth and as such they are proud to contribute meaningfully to the development and empowerment.
The whole initiative is also part of Orange’s larger vision to build the Liberian multi service operator, partners of choice, for digital, financial, energy, social inclusion, while upholding ethical and environmental responsibility, Orange CEO said.
Also speaking at the program Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, President, of the Tubman University, expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude to the Orange GSM Company delegation for their remarkable support and collaboration in making the project a reality. Dr. Menjay reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring proper security and management of the huge investment provided by the Orange family.
For his part Maryland County Superintendent Henry B. Cole Jr. described the occasion as monumental facility and called on the residents, students of the University and the entire region to take the modern digital club as their own by cherishing it. Superintendent Cole noted that Maryland County is the cradle of education in the southeastern region of the country and as such, the modern digital lab is not misplaced. The program brought together students, faculty and staff of TU, as well as many community dwellers across Maryland County. The project is intended to shape the lives of many young Liberians in Maryland County, and the southeast, through entrepreneur enterprise when they shall have acquired knowledge from the center that is meant to transform people positively.
