MONROVIA, LIBERIA — Former Alternative National Congress (ANC) National Secretary-General Cllr. J. Aloysius Toe resigned from the party with immediate effect on Sunday, September 6, 2026. He attributed his decision to what he described as his arbitrary removal from the ANC New Core Leaders chatroom one day earlier.

Toe, who also identified himself as an eminent partisan, addressed his resignation letter to ANC National Chairman Cllr. Lafayette E. O. Gould. He asked the party to update its records to reflect the end of his membership.

Removal Triggered Immediate Departure

According to Toe, the online platform comprised current and former party leaders and eminent partisans. He stated that the political leader removed him on September 5 without a cause or triggering event known to him.

Toe further maintained that he received neither an explanation nor the courtesy of a prior conversation before the action was taken. He offered no additional allegation or account of an earlier dispute in the one-page letter.

“Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation from the Alternative National Congress (ANC), effective immediately, following my arbitrary removal by the Political Leader from the ANC New Core Leaders chatroom on September 5, 2026—a platform comprising current and former party leaders and eminent partisans—without any cause or triggering event known to me, without explanation, and without the courtesy of prior conversation,” Toe wrote. He added that, under those circumstances, he could no longer continue his membership in the party.

The resignation letter contained no response from Gould or the ANC political leader concerning the chatroom removal. Toe signed the communication in his capacity as former national secretary-general.
