Team Gongloe Visits PUL -To Strategize on Liberia’s Future

In a bid to extend its strategic outreach initiatives aimed at engendering frank discourses with all sectors of the Liberian society, the Committee on Media Research & Strategy (C-MRS) of Team Gongloe on Wednesday paid the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) President Charles B. Coffey and his team a courtesy visit in Monrovia.

The courtesy visit is the first the Committee plans to pay professional media organizations including the Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), Publishers Association of Liberia (PAL), Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL), Association of Liberia Community Radio (ALICOR), Liberia Movie Union (LMU), and Liberia Association of Writers (LAW).

During the PUL visit, the C-MRS delegation head, Mr. Weah Karpeh, told the Union’s leader that Team Gongloe aspires to convince fellow Liberians to get astute and erudite human rights advocate and lawyer, Tiawan Saye Gongloe, elected President of Liberia in 2023 to transform the Motherland consonant with the Law. He asserted: “The Country has crumbled, collapsed and in disarray and desires a credible and non-corrupt character to redeem it, which is why Team Gongloe has been on a systematic outreach nationwide to mobilize and prepare Liberians to ignore others and vote Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe President of Liberia in 2023.”

University of Liberia Assistant Professor of Forestry, Dr. Johnson J. Geply, who was part of the delegation said when the experienced public servant is elected to the portfolio, he would lead a crusade to lift Liberia and its citizens from the current ruin and despair. The ardent observer of politics stated that Cllr. Gongloe, to date, serves Liberia exceptionally well relative to his peers. “He has worked with integrity, honesty, accountability and transparency in 33 years including in top-level positions such as Solicitor-General of Liberia and Minister of Labor respectively, where others have betrayed the trust of the Liberian people, stolen public funds and, in a simple language, cheated Liberia. I see none of his caliber in our country today because too many of his peers have gone wayward,” Dr. Geply stated.

On his part, Press Union of Liberia President, Charles B. Coffey said he was pleased that the Team Gongloe delegation paid the Union the visit, and provided it the opportunity to hear and understand what the Movement was out to achieve in order to make Liberia better. He assured Liberians that the Union would create the necessary platform for everyone vying for any elected post in the country including the Presidency to be heard and vetted by the electorate – as the PUL is a nonpartisan/watchdog organization.

In the case of Cllr. Gongloe, Mr. Coffey stressed that the PUL was well aware of his role as a human rights lawyer who has assisted many ordinary citizens and organizations including media institutions legally on a pro-bono basis. The PUL President particularly remembered the Counsellor’s contribution in repealing draconian laws including those that hindered freedom of the press and free speech.
