SUP MOURNS -Urges members to “remain calm as in-depth investigation is ongoing” -Prays for Speedy Recovery of Chairman Edison, others

Monday March 25, 2019, was a sad day for the people of Liberia as well as the Student Community when they woke up to the news of a tragic motor accident that left District # 15 Representative Adolph A. Lawrence along with a student activist Dabah Gwendolyn Wilson of the Student Unification Party (SUP) dead, while the Chairman of SUP Carlos T. Edison, Prince Gbatoe and Calvin Jefferson are in critical condition as a result of the accident and are currently undergoing medical treatment. The Chairman of SUP and others were returning to Monrovia from Buchanan, Grand Bassa County after the celebration of the 50th birth anniversary of the late Rep. Lawrence who was also a veteran of the Student Unification Party. The general populace especially the Student Unification Party and its members have being expressing regrets and extending condolences to the bereaved families and praying for the speedy recovery of their colleagues. The SUP has already issued an official release on Monday, March 25, 2019 in which the Vanguard Student Unification Party is calling on all critical voices to remain calm as in-depth investigation is ongoing, The Analyst reports.

“You full my mouth, comrade ally Gwendolyn Dabah Wilson. You were a strong, brilliant, articulate and wise young woman -rich in vision and gallant in action. SUP was in your DNA. Side by side, we fought for social justice, academic freedom, and peace. Our relationship was beyond comradeship. You were a genuine sister, a true leader, a passionate friend, and a dependable advisor. You were an enterprising young lady who had an unquenchable desire and devotion to LEAD CHANGE. Your impact on girls and young women was phenomenal. History shall forever dignify your outstanding and admirable role. I never knew it was our last moment on Sunday. Too painful, distressing and unbearable to accept. Sleep on Dabah, sleep well – SUP shall forever remember you. We love you my ally and fearless female revolutionary. This loss is indeed a big blow’ these were the tearful condolence message released to the public by the Standard Bearer of the Vanguard Student Unification Party (SUP), Mr. Martin K. N. Kollie.
The Student Unification Party (SUP), in a press statement issued on Monday, March 25, 2019 wishes speedy recovery to its Chairman Carlos T. Edison, Prince Gbatoe and Calvin Jefferson and extends sympathy to the families of veteran Adolph A. Lawrence and Gwendolyn Daba Wilson.
“Comrades and compeers, devotees of social justice and academic freedom, idealists of Massacracy, courageous militants, conscious university students, relentless campaigners of popular power and genuine democracy, sons and daughters of the helpless and oppressed mass of our people, fighting cadres and courageous ideologues of Africa’s biggest repository of true consciousness and political enlightenment, the Vanguard Student Unification Party”, SUP said.
According to the release, “SUP, with a revolutionary spirit of remorse indicates that the Vanguard Student Unification Party wishes to inform all militants, stalwarts, the veteran community and the general public that Chairman Edison along with two party militants and some veterans was involved in a tragic accident along the Buchanan-RIA highway at about 2AM on Monday morning while on their way from Buchanan to Monrovia.
“The Chairman along with some party officials and militants has gone to honor an invitation of Hon. Adolph A. Lawrence, a veteran of SUP at his 50th birth anniversary celebration and their vehicle allegedly ran into a truck carrying timber”.
The release also stated that SUP regrets to announce the loss of two of its veterans Adolph A. Lawrence and Dabah Gwendolyn Wilson who were riding on the same vehicle with the chairman; this is again a great lost not only for the Student Unification Party but the state in general; our hearts are with the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, SUP is quoted as saying that “While we all mourn the death of our veterans, we call on the youth and student community to join us during these trying times of our party and offer prayers for the speedy recovery of our chairman and the other militants who are currently responding to treatment at a medical center around Monrovia.”
The students party said an in-depth investigation about what led to the tragic motor accident is ongoing and therefore call on all frontline ideological defenders and critical voices to remain on the alert about the heartless plan of the backward reactionary elements to viciously eliminate critical voices who remained unbending on checkmating and exposing the ills in the motherland.

Condolences from the Student Community
“My always smiling revolutionary icon and female gladiator in veteran Gwendolyn Dabah Wilson of the Vanguard Student Unification Party is no more with us in the people’s struggle across the motherland…We are saddened by your untimely passing over comrade leader and ally! Why now my ally? Comrade leader and ally Gwendolyn, your untimely passing over to our ancestors and other brave and courageous soldiers at this time of our existence is completely saddened for us as committed revolutionaries. The last time we checked out your leadership records in activism and in the Vanguard Student Unification Party, you proved to be committed and very brave in whatever you did for the betterment of mankind and for the Vanguard Party. You never took things lightly,” this is how a student described Gwendolyn on social media.
Another student remembered her lifetime and noted, “You were such a good sister, friend and an ally to me and other committed brothers in the struggle in the homeland and abroad. You never called me by name one day. You either called me “comrade revolutionary or comrade leader” during our outstanding interactions on and off campus (UL). Leaving me like many of your comrades and allies is unbelievable. You have to wakeup Gwendolyn!
“For me, it was really hard for me to accept such news that you were no more. I rushed at the JFK Medical Center in Monrovia by 7AM during the morning hours and I saw her remains was being placed in an ambulance in order to be taking to a nearby funeral home. It was when I and other trusted comrades believed that you have left us. Leaving us in serious disbelief.”

You never took things lightly. To the peace loving people of District#15, we say to you people, take heart! We know it is painful but we don’t have control over death. All we can pray for is, they should find peace with the Lord Almighty. We cannot ask God, why?”
One of the students qouted Biblical scriptures in order to face the fact that death is the end of man’s life, “Because it is written in scripture that there is time to be born and there is time to die! As a Veteran of SUP, Hon. Aldolf A. Lawrence was an acclaimed statesman not just to his people but to his country. His bravery in demand of ultimate change was undiluted and unwavering. He was an admired intellectual powerhouse at the National Legislature. His love for country and people was a commitment that couldn’t be betray in his lifetime. Honorable Veteran Lawrence, you and Veteran Gwendolyn Dabah Wilson will surely be remembered for the critical you both played in the advancement of our people. You guys should go and rest in peace till we meet again. Until we meet again, my right hand salute.”
The student community then prayed for the “Speedy recovery to the most popular and powerful man on the campuses of the University of Liberia in Chairman Carlos Tingban Edison of the Vanguard Student Unification Party, comrade ideologue and leader Prince Gbatoe and brave Militant Calvin Jefferson, a one time Special Assistant to the Office of former President Mau F. Maiwo of the University of Liberia Interim Student Leadership-ULSIL of the state own university, the University of Liberia,”
