MONROVIA – Immediately following the oxygen plant explosion in its industrial area which left one dead, the management of Sethi Ferro Fabrik Inc. reached out to the family of the victim, expressing remorse and condolences.
In a swift release dated February 18, 2025, the company acknowledged the industrial incident that occurred at its Gardnersville facility and expressed profound regret over the incident. The company reported one death in Oxygen Plant explosion.
“Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues affected by this tragic loss. We have begun immediate engagement with the family of Saah Samukai and are doing everything we can to support them during this difficult Period,” the management of Sethi Ferro Fabrik Inc. said in the release.
It also clarified that, contrary to earlier media reports suggesting two fatalities and multiple injuries, only one death occurred, and no other injuries were sustained.
There was an immediate action taken following the incident, and “we are cooperating with local authorities as they conduct an investigation”.
The company further indicated that its employees are the heart of its operations, and their safety is a top priority, adding that “This loss is deeply painful for all of us. We will do everything in our power to support the family of Mr. Samukai and to work alongside the authorities to understand and address this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the bereaved family, and we will continue to provide the necessary support during this difficult period.”
At Sethi Ferro Fabrik, the management says it always prioritize the safety and well-being of employees and have in place robust safety measures, which “we continuously work to uphold at the highest industry standards. However, we recognize that no system is infallible, and we take this incident with the utmost seriousness”.
As the relevant Government Authority of Liberia conducts its investigation, the company further said, “we are fully cooperating to ensure a transparent and thorough process. We remain committed to learning from this incident and reinforcing our safety protocols where necessary.”
