Senator Conmany Wesseh To Receive Petition

As reports of subtle maneuvers for political offices against 2023 continue to heat up across the country, there are reports of massive preparation in the offing in River Gee County by key stakeholders including traditional leaders, chiefs, and elders to petition Senator Conmany B. Wesseh to seek re-election for the upper chambers of the national legislature in 2023.

According to insiders close to the organizers, though detailed   information about the event, such as when and where it will take place is still sketchy, the development is said to be an outcome of ongoing discussions and consultations relating to the political future of River Gee in 2023 as the time draws nearer.

Organizers told the press at the end of the meeting held by citizens of River Gee in Monrovia that the petition will showcase the support expressed by the citizens for the incumbent lawmaker after due consultation with various interest groups in the county.

A key member of the organizing committee and chief elder of Chedepo, Mr. Henry Jah said the citizens of the county are overwhelmingly supporting the petition in recognition of the stellar performances of Senator Wesseh in fulfilling the cardinal functions of lawmakers such as lawmaking, representation and oversight and that there is a compelling need to make sure that Senator Wesseh who was elected in 2014 on the ticket of the Unity Party is returned to his seat.

For his part, a former member of the Liberia Transitional Assembly (LTA) Hon. Jerome Taypison said the petition will send a clear message to others that the elders have resolved to put to rest all remaining issues surrounding the county senatorial seat. He used the occasion to call on all River Gee citizens to join the effort in support of a better representation.

He further stated that there are substantial evidences that the incumbent is up to the task of rebuilding the county through meaningful legislations and other actions that will help accelerate development in the county.

His assertion was also buttressed by another prominent elder of the county and a former representative candidate, Mr. Belleh C. Doe, who noted that Senator Wesseh is a man of peace, integrity and a caring leader.
