MONROVIA – The Bar of River Gee has got new officers. They are Cllr. Denise Sokan, President; Atty. Roland Bishop Doe, Vice President; Atty. Peteryna J. Jah-Kanneh, Secretary General; Atty. Nedia Warner, Treasurer, and Atty. Amos Nyenatoh, Chaplain.
The Bar voted in their new leaders during a recent meeting held in Monrovia at which time the presiding chairperson Cllr. Negbalee Warner paid tribute to all judges of the county, specifically His Honor Wesseh A. Wesseh, for their tremendous efforts in ensuring the Bar stays together.
Cllr Warner pointed out the need to have a smooth election that would avoid a long competitive process, noting that that showed unity and a way to foster the growth of the Bar.
His Honor Wesseh A. Wesseh also welcomed all members and shared his joy in seeing a meeting held in a very peaceful way. He urged members to keep the Bar active.
Outgoing Vice President, Cllr Jerome proposed that president-elect, Cllr. Sokan, be elected as President for the Bar, promising to support the leadership in every aspect possible.
Also, Cllr. Teh who was nominated to contest the presidency declined, leaving Cllr. Sokon to be elected on white ballot.
A prominent member of the Bar, Cllr. Dempster Brown, emphasized the need for the organization to pay monthly contributions, hold periodic meetings and have the Bar avoid politics at the LNBA level.
