PUL 58th Anniversary Starts Today in Nimba

MONROVIA – In commemoration of its 58th Anniversary, the nation’s premier media gatekeeper, the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), has released a calendar of events covering 28-30 September 2022 in the historic city of Sanniquellie, Nimba County

According to the PUL, this year’s anniversary celebration will focus on the Digital Business Model, the New Way in Media Marketing Innovation at a time business in the media has declined. 

“To stimulate these discussions and take a position, the PUL is inviting all of its auxiliaries, media executives, reporters and friends of the media to the PUL anniversary commemoration in Sanniquellie, Nimba County from 28th to 30th September 2022 at the City Hall,” the PUL stated in a press release issued yesterday.

Calendar of Events

In line with the breakdown of activities planned for the PUL anniversary commemoration, on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, the Union will engage in a “Personal Data Protection Forum on draft legislation and self-regulatory manual”. The validation Forum will take place in Sanniquellie bringing together journalists and media workers. 

On Thursday, September 29, 2022, the media will engage in a field reporting trip to Yekepa and nearby communities; while on Friday, September 30, 2022, journalists from all walks of life will parade through the principal streets of Sanniquellie to give visibility to the Press Union of Liberia and allow the community see some of the nation’s top journalists.

“Official program marking the celebration will take place right after the parade, during which the keynote will be delivered. Solidarity greetings will also be read at the event,” the PUL stated.

“In this respect, the 2022 PUL Anniversary Committee is requiring all journalists desirous of making the trip to Sanniquellie, Nimba County to make the modest payment of Ten United States Dollars. The stipulated fees are in recognition of the financial difficulties currently facing the nation.

“The amount will contribute to the organization of activities set aside to mark the commemoration of the 58th Anniversary of the Press Union of Liberia. T-shirts are now on sale as part of the ten dollars payment. The PUL highly appreciates your usual support,” the press release noted.
