It has been announced that the Minister of Public Works Designate and Acting Minister Madam Ruth Coker-Collins will today, Friday, June 3, 2022 at 3 pm appear before the plenary of the Liberian Senate for her confirmation hearing following her nomination for substantive appointment by President George Manneh Weah some time ago.
Madam Collins was recently nominated by President Weah to the position after acting in the position for almost two years in the aftermath of the death of former Minister, the late Mobutu Vlah Nyepan and she has so far ably performed up to the task, leading the major signature projects of the government, road connectivity throughout the country.
Following her nomination, Liberians from far and wide were highly effusive, calling President Weah’s nomination timely.
If confirmed as it is expected to be an easy exercise according to pundits, Madam Collins will be energized to go all out to oversee and execute the major road construction projects already being undertaken by the government such as the Monrovia –RIA Highway, the ELWA Junction to Red Light, the Ganta-Saclepia, Saclepia to Tappita, Tappita to Zwedru, Sanniquellie to Loguatuo roads, etc.
Madam Collins has working experience both in the private and the UN System. She served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of her private business entity, Tabitha Renaissance Engineering and Design Inc which she founded in 2012.She served with the United Nations Integrated Mission In Timor for 14 years and 8 months in various capacities such as, Civil Engineer, Material Assistant Manager, Facilities Management and Camp Management Assistant.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Stella Maris Polytechnic University and a Master’s Degree in Public Sector Management from the Cuttington Graduate School.
