Presidential Security Advisor Warns Sen. Dillon -Over Threats to Attack President Weah

Over the weekend, incumbent Monsterrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon and his supporters reportedly suffered altercations with supporters of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) while visiting Montserrado County’s District 16. In a vitriolic reaction, Senator Dillon released a podcast last Sunday evening, promising to attack President Weah with stones and guns, if ever he Dillon and his supporters suffer another attack at the hands of CDCians. Although Senator Dillon immediately retracted his statement, President Weah’s national security higher-ups are not taking the threats from the Montserrado County lawmaker lightly. The President’s National Security Advisor has in fact threatened to use maximum lethal force against anyone who threatens the life of the Liberian president.

In a press release dated September 14, 2020 from the Office of the National Security Advisor (ONSA), the Executive Protective Service (EPS) and other supporting security units to the presidency have been ordered to neutralize with surgical precision any threat to the safety of the President with the maximum force within the confines of the law.

The release signed by National Security Advisor Jefferson Karmoh stated that the attention of the ONSA had been drawn to ranting of threats against the national security of the State in general, and  the person and life of the President of Liberia in particular by Senator Abraham Darius Dillon on Sunday, September 13, 2020.

“The ONSA takes seriously this vitriolic verbosity, and wishes to assure the general public that the Government of Liberia is uncompromisingly committed to the maintenance of law and order, and the sustenance of peace,” the release stated, cautioning further that the public should not be misguided by anyone into foolhardy trespassing, let alone throwing foreign objects, anywhere within the proximity of the President.
