President-Elect Meets Representatives Today -For Acquaintance and To Have an Insight of Legislative Agenda
MONROVIA: What could be seen as a major initiative of President Elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai to forge a working relationship with other branches of government comes up today when he holds a major meeting with both old and incoming members of the House of Representatives at his residence in Rehab Community, Paynesville according to text message shared with those concerned.
According to the message which was sent yesterday to the individual representatives by Mo Ali, Director of Political Affairs, Office of the President Elect, the meeting will take place at 4 pm at the stated venue just as Ali stated that their presence at the all-important for the first time since Mr. Boakai was declared the winner of the keenly contested November 14, 2023 presidential run-off would be highly appreciate.
Ali, who has played some key roles in the buildup to the Unity Party victory including National Spokesman, Secretary General of the party and later on National Campaign Spokesman, confirmed to The Analyst that the intent of the meeting was to have an acquaintance meeting between the President elect and the representatives and to have an insight of their legislative agenda going towards the inauguration slated for January 22, 2024.
Since his return to the country from the United States of America where he paid a brief visit after the historic election, President elect Boakai has been holding strategic meetings with key stakeholders in the polity as well as the international community, mostly Liberia’s international development partners.
The meeting is coming at the time when massive preparations are ongoing for the ensuing inauguration where Ambassador Boakai will be inheriting power from outgoing President George Manneh Weah.
