Pres. Weah becomes Liberia’s first sitting President to visit Gbi & Duro -As he receives huge farm-land from citizens
As part of President Weah’s nationwide tour, he took a ten-hour historic drive from Tappita to Gbi and Duro, an administrative district in Nimba County.
History tells us that since Liberia was founded no sitting President has ever visited this part of Nimba. Citizens of Gbi & Duro were seen dancing and singing upon the arrival of H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah.
The President, Officials of Nimba County along with some officials of the Executive were overwhelmingly received with enormous reception, the displayed of tradition was astounding as the message of the people was resounding.
In appreciation of President Weah’s visit, he was offered an initial one thousand five hundred (1,500) acres of land for farming by the residents of Gbi & Duro. In his quest to improve the Country’s economy through the Agriculture sector, President Weah immediately set up a team to start cultivating said parcel of land. The land will be used particularly to produce rice and other crops.
“Indeed, the fruits from the nationwide tour are getting sweeter day by day. We are heading for Grand Gedeh tomorrow. President Weah will be remembered as one of the greatest Presidents in our Country’s history, said an official of the Weah’s government in Gbi and Duro.
