PLP Condemns Tenny’s Attacks on Weah -Calls for National Stakeholders Meeting

MONROVIA : The People’s Liberation Party (PLP) is saddened by a recent facebook podcast by a stalwart of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Dr. Lester Tenny for what it considers a purported plan to expel the CDC Standard Bearer, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah from the coalition. In a December 5, 2023 podcast, Dr. Tenny asserted that “President Weah utilized CDCians in 2017 to replenish his lost wealth”.

According to the December 7, 2023 press statement signed by the National Secretary General of the PLP, Daniel Gayou, the party believes the statement from Dr. Tenny is not necessary at this time.

“As a constituent member within the coalition, PLP calls on the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) to utilize the party’s grievance and ethics mechanisms as a means to settle its internal dispute before resorting to the expulsion of anyone,” Gayou contended.

The PLP further condemned Dr. Tenny’s podcast and called for the retraction of his statement, “as it is intended to further plunge the party into public disrepute and create more divisions amongst the coalition and its members.”

The People’s Liberation Party through its National Executive Committee has therefore called on the CDC leadership to convene a National stakeholders meeting aimed at recalibrating the coalition for a possible return in the 2029 elections.
