Orange Liberia Ends OSVP National Pitching -Finndex Africa Emerges Victorious for First Prize

MONROVIA – One of Liberia’s leading GSM companies, Orange Liberia, over the weekend conducted its National Pitching ceremony of the Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) 2025 with Finndex Africa winning the first prize of US$3,000.

Finndex Africa is a digital hub that connects homeowners with tenants and tenants seeking homes to sellers, bridging the gap and reducing fraud in the real estate sector.

The National Pitching Ceremony for the Orange Social Venture Prize 2025 was held at the Orange Icon 16 headquarters on Friday, August 29, 2025. It lit up the stage with innovation, impact, and unstoppable energy.

From bold ideas to brilliant execution, the winning teams showcased the power of entrepreneurship to transform communities. Each pitch was a testament to passion, resilience, and the future of sustainable business in Liberia.

Giving an overview of OSVP 2025, Orange Digital Center Senior Manager Zaza Mulbah said the competition was launched in 2011, and has supported over 500 entrepreneurs and with nearly 15,000 applications received since inception, the competition has become a significant platform for identifying and nurturing innovative social ventures in the region

According to him, the program is also supporting innovation start-ups that harness digital technology to create positive social and environmental impact across Africa and the Middle East.

He said in 2020, they introduced the International Women’s Prize to promote business ventures led by women entrepreneurs, and in 2017, the evolution included national competitions in 17 countries, with the top three national winners advancing to the international grand prize.

On the impact across multiple dimensions social and economic, Mr. Mulbah said, OSVP is identifying and rewarding projects with positive social and environmental impact, contributing to sustainable and inclusive development.

“In years, the Orange Social Venture Prize has seen consistent growth in applications, demonstrating increasing interest in social entrepreneurship across Liberia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Providing notable international success stories, Orange Digital Center Senior Manager Zaza Mulbah said in 2023 New Breed emerge 2nd in International Competition in Cape Town, South Africa, and  in 2022 Ezy Market an E-commerce platform won,

“Eco-Soap Liberia, natural mosquitoes repellent soaps and oil, also in 2020, Munch Food was winner of Women Empowerment Project, and 2019 JPalm Liberia emerged 2nd in the International Competition in Cape Town, South Africa for its mini palm oil processing plants, bringing sustainable agriculture innovation to global attention,” he added.

Stating, “Also at the international level, Weeglo in 2020 awarded 3rd place prize for its low-cost learning solutions, demonstrating Liberia’s growing presence in educational technology, and AgriWATTS became one of the last 10 finalists in the International Competition, showcasing Liberian innovation in agricultural technology on a global stage.  

In Liberia, this year’s edition attracted 59 applications, with seven finalists presenting before a panel of judges.

Finndex Africa is tackling the challenges of Liberia’s growing urban rental market by offering a platform thatConnects tenants, landlords,and agents.

The stat-up, led by CEO Levi Singbeh alongside Mohammed Kerkulah (CO0), Charles G. Kpan (CTO), and Selvin Dahn (Product Lead), aims to make housing searches faster, more reliable, and more transparent.

HealthMate, a mobile health application, took second place with a solution to digitize Liberia’s fragmented medical records, and it is for low-resource settings, the app uses AI-Powered tools to scan handwritten prescriptions and Lab results, creates portable patient health profiles, and works offline to serve rural clinics.

GoLocal  and Agribusiness start-up was placed third for its work in food processing and distribution. By producing fortified Farina enriched with groundnut, milk, and coconut, and by training and financing smallholder farmers, the company is addressing food insecurity while empowering local producers.

The special women’s category was awarded to Voices of Tomorrow, a project by Blooming Kaleidoscope that supports families living with autism.

The initiative provides parent support services, awareness campaigns to challenge stigma, and pushes for national data collection guide policy on autism care. The event which was held in Monrovia at the Orange headquarters in Sinkor, highlighted Orange’s commitment to fostering inclusive and responsible innovation.

Uomah Brown Withe rspoon, Senior Manager of the Orange Foundation, told participants: “This is more than just a competition.

“It is a celebration of bold ideas, passionate innovators, and the powerful m intersection of technology and,social impact. The most transformative innovations are those that solve real-world problems,” she said.

She added by saying, “OSVP is not just a Liberian initiative; it’s global. This competition pushes entrepreneurs to think beyond our borders, ensuring that solutions born here can scale to regional and international markets.

While cash awards remain an incentive, past winners stressed that the true value of OSVP lies in mentorship, visibility, and the opportunity to refine business models.

The national winners will now advance to compete on the international stage, where prizes of up to €25,000 are awarded.

Since its inception, OSVP has emerged as a launch pad for African entrepreneurs addressing challenges from healthcare to agriculture, technology, and education. For Liberia, this year’s edition reaffirmed a growing culture of innovation.

The ceremony was graced by members of the Orange Foundation Liberia, employees and spectacular pitchers, with David Baysah, Mahmud Johnson, Zuleka R. Woods and others serving as judges. Orange Liberia received 59 applications, but only seven were qualified, including Voices of Tomorrow, Visempro, Finndex Africa, The Schoolmate, GoLocal, Healthmate, and Farm-to-Market Solution.
