NEC To Address Nyonblee’s Complaints

MONROVIA – The National Elections Commission(NEC) has said its attention has been drawn to statements regarding the October 3, 2022 complaint filed by Senator Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrence and others of the Liberty Party and assures the  parties that have submitted issues of concerns before the commission that these complaints will be addressed in the coming days in line with its mandate.

“Consistent with these assurances , the commission wishes to restate o all stakeholders and parties its mindfulness in relation to chapter two Section 2.9(w) of the new elections law, which states “To issue citation for the appearance before it or any political party or its leaders, or other natural persons in connection with any complaint cognizable before it”, a statement from the electoral body said yesterday.

The statement also said the commission informed the Rainbow Alliance and the People’s Restoration Party, whose respective cases have been pending before the commission prior to Senator Lawrence’s October 3rd complaint, that their matters will also be looked into in the coming week.

It can be recalled that Senator Lawrence had earlier called for a mass protest and other unspecified actions against NEC for failure to look into complaint she had filed with the institution concerning the Liberty Party in her capacity as the Political Leader in which she had even accused NEC of playing partisan roles where her rival, Musa Hassan Bility, National Chairman of the party is said to be favored.
