NEC Conducts In-House Gender Training

The Gender Section of the National Elections Commission (NEC) has concluded a two-day intensive Gender training for Elections Magistrates and Logistics Officers of the Commission in the City of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

According to Prince Dunbar, Deputy Communication Director, who signed the press statement from the electoral body, the NEC-Gender Section training was funded by the United Nations Development Program UNDP, Electoral Support Office, donors, and partners, the governments of Sweden and Ireland.

The NEC gender training focused around the issues of understanding the specifics of gender concepts and mechanisms.

The gender policy of the National Elections Commission, through its Gender Section was also discussed during the Buchanan training.

According to a NEC release on Sunday, the training was conducted under the theme, “Unpacking Gender in Elections”.

The UN Women and Peace Building Fund also provided support to the gender training seeking to unpack Gender in elections.
