MONROVIA: The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC) is in Cotonou, Benin to attend the 8th Continental Forum of Election Management Bodies (EMBs) and the AAEA General Assembly.
The NEC-Liberia Chairperson Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah is in Cotonou at the invitation of the African Union through its Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security under its mandate to advance democratic and participatory governance in Africa.
A NEC press release issued over the weekend says the Cotonou forum under the theme, Strategic Communication: Building a Sustainable EMBs-Stakeholders Relationship, is also organized in collaboration with the Association of African Electoral Authorities (AAEA).
The NEC release quoted a dispatch from the African Union that Madam Browne Lansanah will join other AU members to chart innovative policy pathways and actionable measures for safeguarding the management of credible, peaceful, and democratic electoral processes in relation to the annual theme.
The forum will offer the opportunity for the NEC-Liberia Chairperson to join other Chairpersons from different Elections Management Bodies and key electoral stakeholders on the continent to Share experiences and harness lessons in effective communication between EMBs and electoral stakeholders, the release signed by the Commission’s Deputy Communications Director Prince Dunbar concluded.
