MONROVIA – The National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) has hailed the Director-General of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP), Dewitt vonBallmoos for his recent appointment to head the Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).

On October 3, 2025, at the ISSA Triennial World Social Security Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, DG vonBallmoos was elected to head the institution’s Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance for a three-year term (2025—2028).

In a release issued Tuesday, October 14, 2025, NACSUL described DG vonBallmoos’ election as a result of his tireless effort in the social security sector and his visionary leadership he has exhibited over the years.

The Technical Commission on Contribution Collection and Compliance is responsible for everything related to social security funding sources and their safeguarding, and deals with issues likely to be of interest beyond the scope of contribution collection, including the macroeconomic, technical and operational questions arising from these issues.

According to NACSUL, vonBallmoos comes to the position with a wealth of experience and qualification, recalling his lengthy years of services to NASSCORP and his unrivaled achievements over the years. The group expressed optimism that NASSCORP is up to the task and prepared to serve in the new capacity.

The group said, they are not surprised with vonBallmoos election, meanwhile, he has proved to be dedicated and committed to what he does, which has elevated, expanded and decentralized the social security sector of Liberia. “NASSCORP has stood the test of time in meeting up with modern transformation, upholding the fundamental principles of its establishment, and upholding best practices,” NACSUL noted in the release.

The group recalled that NASSCORP, under the leadership of Dewitt vonBallmoos, has invested in several infrastructures including real estate, hospitals, agriculture, and obtaining shares in various banks. “NASCORP has also been involved into national development initiatives, such as contributions to low-cost housing projects and the construction of the Jahmale Diagnostics Center, aimed at enhancing local medical facilities,” the NACSUL release added.

NACSUL noted that research conducted has revealed that NASSCORP now oversees an asset valued at approximately US$141 million, maintaining that vonBallmoos will do well at ISSA’s Contribution Collection and Compliance Commission. They described him as an honest and fair leader.

The group then congratulated DG vonBallmoos for his election, and vowed to stand by him throughout his three-year term.
