LP Reposes Explicit Confidence in Edith Gongloe-Wreh -Endorses Her to Contest CPP Primaries

As a founding member of the Collaborating Political Parties, the Liberty Party exercised its constituent rights on August 24, 2020 when it overwhelmingly endorsed former Nimba County Superintendent, Madam Edith Gongloe-Wreh, as its singular choice for the hotly contested Nimba County senatorial seat in the December 8, 2020 midterm senatorial elections. Interestingly Madam Gongloe-Wreh will be squaring things off with Mr. Taa Wongbe of the Alternative National Congress in the upcoming CPP primaries to determine the opposition’s prime choice.

In an elaborate ceremony held in Ganta, Nimba County, LP National Chairman Stephen Zargo, National Secretary General Jacob Smith, and Charlyne Brumskine, daughter of fallen Founding Father of the Party, and other LP were on hand to add spice to the occasion.

Calling on the electorate to eschew belly-driven politics, the former Nimba Superintendent said it is time to change the trend of politics in Nimba and Liberia.

“Our politics must be about creating the enabling conditions that empower citizens to earn and purchase for themselves. We must shun the politics of delivering bags of rice, zinc and other gift items to the electorate, as a way of securing their votes,” were the words of Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh, as she responded to her endorsement by the Liberty Party.

She said Liberia is in need of critical transformation and reforms in order to measure up to other countries in the international system.

Madam Gongloe-Weh, a media practitioner, spoke of a participatory agenda setting as a sure way of engendering the people’s responsiveness to development. She committed herself to teaming up with well-meaning Liberians upon being elected, to set a progressive agenda that will transition Liberia from its present state.

Earlier, the endorsee paid homage to the Founding Father of LP, Cllr. Charles W. Brumskine, for maintaining a vibrant institution.

For his part, the National Chairman of Liberty Party, Senator Steve Zargo, challenged the people of Nimba County to begin the process of transforming the current political situation by their division at the pools in the mid-term election.

Chairman Zargo electrified his audience when he said, ” Edith must win because a win for Edith will also mean a win for Nimba; and a win for Nimba will mean a win for Liberia.”

The LP Chairman assured his audience that the Liberty Party would not rest until Madam Gongloe-Weh emerged as the CPP candidate for Nimba County.

Earlier, Miss Charlyne Brumskine expressed confidence in Madam Gongloe-Weh’s ability to make a difference on Capitol Hill, recounting that her passion to work for the good of her people was great.

Miss Brumskine encouraged Namibians to stand by Madam Gongloe-Weh as she endeavors to increase female representation in the Senate with a blend of quality service.

Pundits see the LP fielding of Madam Gongloe-Wreh to contest the CPP primary as a litmus test for increased women participation, given the conspicuous absence of women within the national legislature.
