A Special National Convention called by the Political Leader of the Liberty Party, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, was held over the weekend in the City of Gbarnga, Bong County. The convention witnessed the convergence of delegates drawn from the Party’s chapters across Liberia, the National Executive Committee, the Advisory Council, the Legislative Caucus, Former Legislative Candidates and other prominent stakeholders of the Liberty Party.
According to a release issued last evening, “the convention was held in keeping with a special order issued by the Political Leader for the purposes of reviewing the amendatory language proposed to the constitution of the party for subsequent adoption by duly accredited delegates, and to hold elections for all national positions.
“Delegates attending the Special National Convention effectuated decisions including the adoption of amended provisions of the Constitution of the party and the election of officials to National positions, pursuant to the purposes of the convention and in keeping with article V of the party amended Constitution.

Sando Vice Chair for Press & Public Affairs; James M. V. Yougie, Vice Chair for Planning Policy & Program; Cllr. Kuku Y. Dorbor, Vice Chair for Gender & Social Policy; Cllr. Powo C. Hilton, Vice Chair for Legal Affairs.
Other officials elected at the Convention are, Philip Suah, Vice Chair for International & Diaspora Affairs; Normanlyne Bendu Barclay, Vice Chair for Membership; Prince Toles, Vice Chair Mobilization; Agacius Coker, Vice Chair Auxiliary Services; Dr. Marcus Spears, Vice Chair for Health & Educational Policy; bMartin S. Kollah, National Secretary General and Wadei Powell, National Treasurer.
“On Sunday January 24, 2020, Partisans, sympathizers and well-wishers gathered in mass at an elaborate program held at the Administrative Building in the City of Gbanga to witness the induction of officials elected at the convention. The induction ceremony was graced by Political Leaders of the Collaborating Political Parties including Alexander B. Cummings (Alternative National Congress), Benoni W. Urey (All Liberian Party) and Amb. Joseph N. Boakai (Unity Party). Also present was the head of the Rainbow Alliance, Mr. Reginald Goodridge.
“The Keynote Address was delivered by Cllr. Kofi Woods during which he called on the Liberty Party and the CPP to “act differently and collectively but decisively”.
“In his acceptance speech, Musa Bility expressed heartfelt gratitude to partisans and delegates alike for the support indicating that is not a personal victory for him, rather, it is one that he shares with all of partisans and supporters of the Liberty Party. He conveyed sincere appreciation for his election as Chairman of the Liberty Party, and promised to execute the functions and responsibilities of the chairmanship to the best of his ability.
“In her closing remarks, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence thanked delegates at the convention and all supporters of the party for believing in the concept of institutionalizing and strengthening the party’s internal democracy. She stated that her primary goal as Political Leader of Liberty Party is to institutionalized LP while promoting inclusiveness”, the release signed by Daniel O.
