The opposition Liberty Party over the weekend announced the application process leading to the emergence of its Presidential Candidate in the ensuing Presidential and Legislative elections in 2023 and has called on its partisans who are in good standing with the party to submit applications at its Headquarters on 19th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia.
“The Liberty Party (LP) announces the formal opening of the application process to contest as an aspirant for the position of Standard Bearer of Liberty Party in the 2023 Presidential & General Elections in Liberia. Persons desiring to participate in the Primary at the upcoming LP National Convention may submit a Letter of Intent to the LP National Executive Committee through its Secretary General, Mr. Martin S. Kollah. Submissions must be hand delivered to the LP Headquarter located at 19th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia. All submissions must be clearly marked “Standard Bearer Application” and the submitter must get a receipt of their filing from the Receptionist”, the announcement which was signed and approved by Martin Kollah and Musa Hassan Bility, Secretary General and National Chairman of the party said.
Reeling out the eligibility requirement, the party said the aspirant must be a natural born Liberian citizen, must have a minimum age of 35 years old and they must own real property valued at 25,000 United States Dollars.
Other requirements are that the aspirant must have been a resident of Liberia for 10 consecutive years, must have been a Liberty Party member in good standing as defined by the LP constitution, for a minimum of two (2) years and the aspirant must pay an application fee of $5,000. The announcement further said that the deadline for application is Saturday, April 30, 2022.
The party said All applications will be vetted by the LP Elections Committee and aspirants will receive a formal letter informing them of final decision by Saturday, May 14, 2022 and that aspirants who are accepted to participate in the LP Primary will be invited to the LP National Convention where the Standard Bearer will be elected through a vote by the National Convention Delegates.
The latest development from the party may form part of the major decisions to be taken at its planned convention where the party is to schedule to deliberate on issues emanating in the party since its last special convention held in Ganta in which the party among other things, it endorsed the Presidential Candidate and Political Leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), Alexander B. Cummings as its preferred choice for the sole ticket of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).
