MONROVA – A group of concerned citizens of Lofa County residing in Monrovia has issued a statement urging President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to uphold unity, recognize loyalty, and promote inclusive national development.

The group commended the President’s administration for its progress in critical sectors, including road infrastructure, agriculture, and essential public services.

They said in a statement: “We, the concerned citizens of Lofa County residing in Monrovia, united under a broad-based, inclusive, and development-oriented movement, reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the peace, stability, and inclusive advancement of the Republic of Liberia. As proud custodians of Lofa’s heritage and active stakeholders in the national development agenda, we extend our continued support to the visionary leadership of His Excellency, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

“We commend President Boakai and his administration for the visible progress made across critical sectors. From the acceleration of road infrastructure projects to strategic investments in agriculture and essential public services, the tangible impact of this administration is evident.

These accomplishments reflect a leadership committed to service delivery and national renewal, an agenda we wholeheartedly embrace and continue to support.”

However, the Lofa group expressed concern about the lack of representation from Lofa County in senior appointments, despite the county’s crucial role in securing the President’s electoral victory.

They specifically highlighted the case of Senator Jorgbor Hamadu Zargo, a distinguished son of Lofa County and loyal supporter of the Unity Party, who was suspended and relieved of his post as Commissioner General of the Liberia Immigration Service without clear justification.

The group appealed to President Boakai to acknowledge Senator Zargo’s steadfast patriotism and dignified silence, noting that his leadership and strategic influence were invaluable during the 2023 elections.

They urged the President to recognize the importance of inclusivity and fairness in governance, emphasizing that exclusion breeds division while inclusion fosters peace.

The statement emphasized that development is not only measured by roads and buildings but also by people, relationships, and trust.

The group called on the President to reflect on the symbolic importance of recognizing those who helped build the foundation of his leadership, including Senator Zargo, who exemplifies loyalty, humility, and service.

The group stressed that national healing requires more than policy; it demands the moral courage to act justly, even when it is politically inconvenient.

They urged President Boakai to consider a gesture of recognition and reconciliation toward Senator Zargo, which would not only be morally right but also politically wise and nationally unifying.

They noted: “Amid these commendable achievements, we must draw attention to a matter of critical national importance: the urgent need for inclusion, recognition of loyalty, and reconciliation. In this context, we respectfully appeal to President Boakai to acknowledge the steadfast patriotism and dignified silence of Senator Jorgbor Hamadu Zargo, a distinguished son of Lofa County and a committed supporter of the Unity Party.”

According to them, Senator Zargo was among the earliest and most loyal voices to rally behind President Boakai.

“His strategic influence and principled leadership were invaluable during the pivotal 2023 elections. His loyalty was not transactional, it was rooted in conviction, vision, and a deep sense of responsibility to the country.”

“Mr President, we must speak frankly. Among the many senior appointments made in your administration, it is deeply concerning that no Lorma son or daughter from Lofa County has been given due consideration, despite Lofa’s undeniable role in securing your electoral victory.

“Senator Zargo, a unifying figure respected across the three major tribes in the county, sacrificed his own political ambitions to ensure stability in Foya, a key battleground. Had it not been for his leadership and the tireless efforts of his team, often at the expense of his personal political future, the Unity Party could have lost Foya. A defeat in Foya, the President’s home base, would have left no justification for any perceived electoral manipulation.”

According to them, Senator Zargo delivered not with noise, but with quiet competence and unwavering commitment.

“Yet today marks one full year since Senator Zargo was suspended and subsequently relieved of his post as Commissioner General of the Liberia Immigration Service, a position he served with honour, discipline, and unmatched professionalism. Despite this abrupt removal, he has neither protested publicly nor retaliated. His dignified silence in the face of injustice is a rare and powerful mark of statesmanship in our political landscape.

“In a time of increasing security threats, porous borders, and fragile institutions, Liberia needs experienced, patriotic public servants whose integrity and expertise are beyond question. Senator Zargo is one of those rare individuals. His deep knowledge of national security and governance remains an untapped national asset.

“We therefore appeal to President Boakai and the Unity Party leadership to uphold the values of fairness, inclusion, and reconciliation. Those who stood firm in difficult times deserve more than lip service, they deserve meaningful inclusion. Unity cannot be proclaimed while exclusion is practised. Exclusion breeds division; inclusion fosters peace.”
