Liberia’s Energy Sector Set to Leapfrog -NOCAL Factors Nigeria in Strategic High-Level Engagements

MONROVIA – Despite multiple, painstaking efforts and prayers by Africa’s oldest republic to bump into nature’s arguably most precious liquid resource, oil, in the hope that it would take hold of the last magic wand capable of accelerating the country’s growth and development, luck has proven otherwise – bare. Whatever find it had been in the past decade proved not to meet commercial quantity. But resilience amid the gloom has never peter out the nation’s zeal to keep trying. The current management of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), the state enterprise in charge of the managing the country’s oil sector, is in high spirits, engaging “old hands” in the business, including the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as The Analyst reports.

In a determined stride toward unlocking Liberia’s oil and gas potential, the leadership of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) has concluded a high-level engagement with top Nigerian business leaders and energy executives.

According to a NOCAL press release, the mission marked a significant step in building cross-border partnerships that can accelerate investment and innovation in Liberia’s energy sector.

“We are flipping through the pages of possibility and shaping the future of Liberia’s energy landscape,” said the President/CEO of NOCAL during the Abuja engagement. “Our mission is clear—putting Liberia first, and shifting the dynamics of our oil and gas industry through strategic alliances and sustainable growth.”

The discussions focused on infrastructure development, joint venture opportunities, energy security, and local content initiatives.

Mr. Alhaji Amin IIyas Group Executive Chairman/CEO of Transoceanic Energy group Nigeria, remarked:

“Liberia represents one of the final frontiers of untapped hydrocarbon potential in West Africa. What we’re witnessing today is visionary leadership from NOCAL, and Nigeria is proud to support a sister nation in building capacity and driving energy-led development.”

This landmark visit underscores NOCAL’s dedication to transforming Liberia’s energy sector into a pillar of economic growth and regional collaboration.
