The President of the Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) Rev. Dr. Kortu K. Brown, has expressed concern over what he described as “too much trending locally including the need to grow our national COVID-19 response, connect response with need for strong spiritual intervention”.
Rev. Brown, in an interview yesterday also emphasized the need as a nation to uphold declared health protocols, ensure security officers respect human rights of ordinary people and address many other national issues.
According to him, “one obvious and concerning issue is reports of monies accessed by lawmakers after the endorsement of the State of Emergency”.
Rev. Brown who is also President of the Inter-religious Council of Liberia (ICL), then appealed to the LEADERSHIP of the Legislature to officially inform the public about what really happened. “What was the allocation designated for? That could probably lay issue to rest”.
It was reported recently that the National Legislature received USD 180,000.00 with each member receiving USD 6,500 for signing the joint resolution on the President’s declaration of the State of Emergency. Some members of the Legislature including Senator Darius Dillon have since reacted to the report saying the USD6, 500 was part of their operational funds approved in the national budget.
