Koijee Sends Ramadan Message to Muslims

-Calls for Prayer, Unity, Justice

Former Lord Mayor of Monrovia and Secretary-General of the erstwhile Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Jefferson Tamba Koijee, has issued a Ramadan message to Muslims in Liberia and around the world, urging reflection, unity, and prayer as the holy month begins.

In his statement, Koijee described Ramadan as a period not only of fasting and restraint, but of spiritual awakening, moral courage, and renewed commitment to justice and compassion.

“As Muslims in Liberia and across the world commence fasting and prayer,” Koijee said, “let us pause and reflect upon these sacred days—days not only of hunger and thirst, but of spiritual awakening, moral courage, and divine justice.”

Koijee used the occasion to express concern about what he described as hardships facing sections of the Muslim community in Liberia, calling for prayers and peaceful reflection during the holy period.

He urged Muslims to remain steadfast in faith and unity, saying the observance of Ramadan should strengthen resilience, patience, and commitment to peaceful coexistence.

“Darkness never conquers those whose faith is anchored in Allah,” he stated, adding that prayer remains a powerful tool for hope, reconciliation, and national healing.

Koijee concluded by encouraging Muslims to continue praying for peace, justice, and harmony in Liberia and beyond, expressing hope that Ramadan will inspire compassion, forgiveness, and renewed national unity.

“For every tear shed in silence,” he said, “there is hope in prayer, and for every hardship endured, faith remains a guiding light.”
