Integrity Institutions’ Auditors Dying Mysteriously -Coincidence or Foul Play???? -Public Concerned

First it was Gifty Lama and Albert Peters, two staffers of the Liberia Revenue Authority who were found dead on Thursday, October 2, 2020 in a parked vehicle on Broad Street. The death of the two LRA personnel has raised serious concerns with the general public, as many have questioned the rationale of two persons working with the same integrity institution being found dead under very questionable circumstances that suggests foul play. As if that was not enough, another LRA staff, George Fahnboto, also died under similar mysterious circumstances in a motor accident that suggested the victim might have been attacked by a machete-wielding assailant before his vehicle ran into a house.

A nation already shocked by the death of three LRA workers was again injected with fear when news hit this morning that the Director General of Liberia’s Internal Audit Agency (IAA), Emmanuel Nyeswa, was discovered dead early Saturday.

Although the circumstances of his death still remain sketchy, it is being gathered that Mr. Nyeswa died when he fell from upstairs and died upon making impact with the concrete pavement in his compound.

According to a video on social media quoting someone close to Mr. Nyeswa, the victim visited a local nightclub last night with some workmates and friends, and returned home with some of the friends who in fact slept in the house with the IAA Director General.

If confirmed, the death of Emmanuel Nyeswa brings to four the number of audit professionals who died mysteriously in less than two weeks following the mysterious deaths of three others from the Internal Audit Department of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA).

Recently, the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) raised serious concerns about the growing wave of mysterious deaths across the country.

“These mysterious deaths notably began with the death of Mr. Matthew Innis, a Senior Staff of the Central Bank of Liberia whose murder happened at the peak of investigations into the misapplication of CBL’s USD 25 Million mop-up fund. The recent deaths of Mrs. Gifty Lama, Mr. Albert Peters and Mr. George Fahnboto, under circumstances similar to those of Mr. Innis, is troubling to say the least. This is no longer an isolated case of accidental death. It presents a pattern of the mysterious deaths of people who earned their stripes for being professional, principled and uncompromising financial auditors.  They have died at a time our nation is bereft of people of their kind. It is even more mysterious that all these people worked at two of the government’s biggest financial institutions- the Central Bank of Liberia and the Liberia Revenue Authority,” the CPP noted, and called on the Government of Liberia to commission an Independent Investigative Commission to probe these deaths and report to the People of Liberia promptly.

Meanwhile, reports have it that the wife of the late Emmanuel Barten Nyneswah in a dispatch from Delaware, the United States, early this morning confirmed the report and is at the same time calling for autopsy on the Odor of her late husband. Details come in shortly.

Tears and shock greeted residents of the 72nd community who woke up early this morning with the sudden news of the death of the IAA boss, their neighbor.
