“I’m only in Collaboration with Koon/UP for Speakership Election” -Musa Bility Clarifies

MONROVIA: Despite embracing fellow lawmakers from diverse background especially those from the Unity Party Alliance, the National Chairman of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), Mr. Musa Hassan Bility has clarified that he is not joining the Unity Party alliance but he is in collaboration with the alliance and its candidate for speakership Rep. Richard N. Koon for the sole purpose of the ensuing the Speakership election.

The clarity from Bility was triggered by a story published in this paper this week that  as the euphoria over Bility’s House Speakership bid pronouncement heightened, he disclosed that he was joining the incoming ruling Unity Party Alliance to wrestle the speaker position from Cllr. Fonati Koffa who is heavily supported by the outgoing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) party.

The District #7, Nimba County representative elect was among the first lawmakers who indicated their interest to become the speaker of the 55th national legislature through the pending election slated for mid-January, 2024, few days to the inauguration of President elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai and his Vice President Senator Jeremiah Koung of Nimba County and political leader of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR).

However, unconfirmed reports have it that Mr. Bility is expected to contest for the Deputy Speakership position and will rely on the support of Representative Richard Nagbe Koon and his UP alliance to realize his aspiration.
