Gongloe Hails Sen. Wesseh -Says He’s a Statesman and a Role Model – Describes Gee Student’s Honor as Laudable

The President of the Liberia National Bar Association Cllr. Tiawan S. Gongloe has described the decision of the River Gee University Students Union as laudable for honoring the River Gee County Senator, Ambassador Conmany B. Wesseh, as a statesman and a role model. He spoke at the honoring program organized by members of the River Gee University Students Union.

Cllr. Gongloe commended the citizens of River Gee to be proud of a gentleman in the Liberian Senate who serves as one of the reliable voices within the legislature. He said that Senator Wesseh is a man of integrity and has served the country in many portfolios.

The counselor served as the guest speaker during the Tenth Anniversary Celebration of the River Gee University Students Union held at the multi-purpose auditorium of the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) on Camp Johnson Road, Friday March 1, 2019.

Speaking on the Topic: “Today’s reader should be a leader tomorrow”, Cllr. Gongloe lamented that some of them who are leaders of today were once good readers, adding that the way to prosper as a student activist, is to identify a road model.

“If you want to be the best orator, try to study about that orator, try to do some of the things he does, gradually you can be a great orator”, Cllr. Gongloe said. Emphasizing that some of them who are on the public stage today acquired whatsoever skills and followed good examples of people who were leaders.

Cllr. Gongloe also spoke in an emphatic tune saying that students wishing to find a road model can do so by alternatively selecting Senator Conmany B. Wesseh and begin to study his life, follow his issues as he is very skillful, decisive and careful in his speeches wherever he went.

According to him, Senator Wesseh was once a student leader and for the first time introduced speaking the truth to power, and as a result of that he was listened to by the people whether you were siding with him or not, because his statements and speeches had content.

He recounted the exploits of eminent Liberians who they followed, and did not relent to name Dr. Amos C. Sawyer, Dr.Togbah Nah Tipoteh and other well-meaning citizens of seniority that spoke with facts and were careful in their choice of words.

“If you are looking for great men, for those of you who come from River Gee County; have great road models,” Cllr. Gongloe mentioned.

Meanwhile, Senator Conmany B. Wesseh thanked the River Gee University Students Union for recognizing him, and prayed that those who are trying to wrongly tarnish his image will repent.

Senator Wesseh who agreed with Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe, appealed to students to find people they will learn from, and pointed out that it was saddened for the way and manner in which people tell falsehood about others only for mischievous purpose.

He said education is for personal dignity and so going through difficulty should not deter students from pursuing higher education.  He encouraged students to be respectful and try to follow others who have integrity.
