MONROVIA: In an apparent bid to meet the May 27, 2023 target that was set recently to unveil the much-heralded running mate to Mr. Alexander B. Cummings, and consistent with the framework document of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), the Standard Bearer of the CPP met with the Executive Committee (EC) yesterday May 19, 2023 where the Vice Standard Bearer aka “Fixer 2” was announced, while discussions were finalized on the location of the program marking the formal announcement of Fixer 2.
According to inside sources within the CPP, the momentum of the unveiling ceremony, which will be held in the presumptive running mate’s county of origin, is already burbling, with reports indicating that a cavalcade of delegates from the 15 political subdivisions of the country will be swarming to the designated city on the 27th of this month, days ahead of the unveiling ceremony.
“This is going to be massive. The CPP is holding nothing back to show to the Liberians and the world that Mr. Cummings is ready to lead this country, and he has chosen the most trusted and able deputy by his side,” a highly placed CPP stalwart informed this paper late yesterday.
It can be recalled that speculations were rife about Mr. Cummings’ pick for his running mate even before delegates had started to troop into Ganta on May 13 to convene for the first National Convention of the CPP.
Topping the list of bookmakers for Cummings’ running mate were the names of former Bong County Senator Henry Yallah, former Grand Bassa County Senator Gbezonghar Findley, and Grand Bassa County District #3 Representative Aspirant Cllr. Charlyne Brumskine.
However, the auspicious presence of Cllr. Charlyn Brumskine at Ganta National Convention where she proffered rousing remarks seemed to give her an air of acceptance, making many to conjecture that Grand Bassa County could be the rendezvous on May 27 where the CPP would be kicking dust in celebration of their running mate.
Pundits are of the conviction that the CPP running mate hunt which was reportedly settled yesterday during the Executive Committee meeting, could fit the benchmarks set by Mr. Cummings a few months ago as recruitment criteria for his running mate.
Cummings is on record for saying that besides qualifications and competency, other characteristics of a suitable Vice Standard Bearer would be a person with self-confidence and security, an experienced team player with background in both public and private sectors, young and energetic, with origin from a vote rich county. The person must also be an extrovert to complement him since he is an introvert. He particularly laid emphasis on the candidate being a female with good integrity.
