Family Booster -Amin Modad’s Wife Vouches for Husband’s Integrity

Since former Commerce Ministry Amin Modad resigned, even shortly before he did, public perceptions about him were mixed. While some thought he needed to bow to public pressure and step down, others, mostly those who know him closely, contended that people calling for his crucifixion were acting out of unawareness about his true character. No one knows this fact for sure than his wife Fredrica Modad who has braved the storming ire prevailing in republic space to unequivocally vouch for the immaculate and sterling character of her husband as an astute businessman and refined politician. In a social media post, Mrs. Modad strongly spiritedly defended her sweetheart’s integrity, apparently feeling unsubdued and unperturbed by the controversy that beclouded the former Minister’s days in Government. THE ANALYST reports.

The resignation of former Minister of Commerce, Amin Modad, has generated enormous public reactions, with a lot of Liberians discussing it in street corners, offices and homes.

Modad resigned following allegations of breaching procurement rules, indulging fiscal excesses. He had flatly denied the allegations, saying invariably that he did no wrong.

But as pressure incessantly was mounting from both external and internal Unity Party forces, he gave up the job he occupied for less than nine months reportedly uninclined to cause any distraction from the continued controversy that could bring to his party and government into disrepute.

With his resignation, there are those who are saying his action automatically translates into guilt, perhaps because Liberians are used to seeing ruling politicians often ground-standing and evasive to the most venomous public pressure when their actions triggered public pressure.

There are other Liberians who are not thinking the same way. Modad’s resignation is not equivalent to guilt, they also counterargued, for there are just other politicians who, for the general good of their group, would give-in and let things flow, even when they feel strongly that they are innocent.

Like others with such a view, the wife of the resigned Commerce Minister has come out boldly and loudly in defense of her husband’s character, suggesting he, unlike other Liberian politicians, does not have thick and stubborn skin to endure endless, vociferous public noise however baseless they may be.

Fredrica Modad could not let the prevailing misconceptions – whether perceived or politically motivated – about her husband’s character evaporate silently from the public space without a word from her who knows him than any other.

In quite a poignant, assuring and family-bolstering post on Facebook, Madam Modad had these words to express: “My dear husband, your family stands by you for making a personal decision to resign. We know your intentions for Liberia are good moreover. You have always been a professional person. The records are there.”

“We have more to achieve in our businesses,” she continued. “Our dreams are possible because of how determined we are. Experience tells you what to do. Confidence allows you to do it without any regrets.

“My family name is at peace now.”
