AS LIBERIA PREPARES to host the 8th Association of African Maritime Administrations (AAMA) Conference, we extend a warm welcome to our esteemed guests from over 40 countries and more than 200 international organizations. This historic gathering of African maritime leaders marks a significant milestone in our nation’s journey towards reclaiming its position as a key player in the global maritime industry.

THE CONFERENCE, THEMED “Safeguarding the Oceans, Promoting De-carbonization, and Exploring Africa’s Blue Economy,” presents a valuable opportunity for Liberia to showcase its vast maritime resources and tourism potential. As we converge to discuss pressing issues in maritime governance, digital technology, and sustainable development, we are reminded of the immense benefits that this conference will bring to our nation.

THIS EVENT IS not only a testament to Liberia’s growing reputation as a maritime hub but also a chance to boost local economy, offer capacity building opportunity and bolster international cooperation. We say so because delegates will purchase goods and services, injecting much-needed revenue into our local economy; Liberia will benefit from the expertise of maritime professionals, enhancing our capacity to implement effective maritime regulations and promote maritime security, and the conference will also strengthen our relationships with international partners, paving the way for future collaborations and investments.

WE ARE GLAD to know that the AAMA Conference is a platform for African nations to chart their course towards a greener, cleaner, safer, and more sustainable maritime future. We are proud to join the ranks of African maritime leaders, experts, and stakeholders in shaping the future of our continent’s blue economy.

WE EXPRESS OUR gratitude to the Liberia Maritime Authority, led by Commissioner/CEO Cllr. Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., and Liberia’s representative at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Ambassador Robert Wilmot Kpadeh for their tireless efforts in organizing this conference. We also appreciate the support of our international partners, including the International Maritime Organization, European Union, and African Development Bank.

AS WE WELCOME our guests to Liberia, we urge all citizens to showcase our renowned hospitality and warmth. Let us work together to make this conference a resounding success and cement Liberia’s position as a leader in Africa’s maritime industry.

WITH THE EYES of the maritime world on Monrovia, we are confident that this conference will be a defining moment in Liberia’s diplomatic and economic journey. Welcome to Liberia, and may this gathering mark the beginning of a brighter future for our nation and the African maritime sector
