DPPL Picks Rev. Kermue As Standard Bearer -Unveils Other Aspirants

MONROVIA: A grassroot political party, the Democratic People’s Party of Liberia (DPPL) has unanimously endorsed Reverend Dave Kermue as Standard Bearer of the party and also unveiled other aspirants for legislative positions in the ensuing general elections at a well-attended  extraordinary convention under the theme, “Leadership in Politics For Greater Democracy and Good Governance in Liberia held at the Life Christian Academy, Disco Hill, Lower Margibi County on Monday, July 10, 2023.

The special convention chaired by the National Chairman N. Dickson R. Tamba saw in attendance aspirants, delegates, partisans as well as leaders of the party drawn from the 15 political subdivisions of the country who were enthusiastic about electing their standard bearer and unveiling other legislative candidates who will represent their various constituencies in the country.

Those announced included Tamba Fahnkellor of District #7, Bong County, Seh Bamago Folder of District #3, Bomi County, Emmanuel C. Harmon of District #2 Grand Bassa County, Jemima Kou Wolokolie of District #4, Montserrado County, and Norah S.G. Cooper of District #4, Margibi County.

Others are David Sundusu Jones of District #5, Margibi County, Daynah Ayomahn Zoe of District #4, Nimba County, Arthur Zandueh Dahn of District #6, Nimba County, Moses S. Teah of District #3, River Gee County, Gripman Saypue of District #2, Maryland County, Thomas Mikuma of District #3, Maryland County, T. Yarpah Augustus of District #1, Riverces County, and Sayee Alamadine of District #2, Rivercess County.

In his acceptance speech, Rev. Dave Kermue told the gathering that it is possible for the Democratic People’s Party of Liberia to be elected on 10 October to lift the spirit of Liberians and give them hope of redemption and transformation saying “I accept to be your Standard Bearer and to contest in the 10 October 2023 elections. Let us stand, this thing is possible”, he said.

He said the occasion is the beginning of what he called a movement that can lay the foundation for the new Liberia which he argued will not be built by greedy people.

According to the DPPL presidential hopeful, as Standard Bearer of the party he comes with leadership of capacity and integrity and the know-how to solve the people’s problems. He added that his leadership is not coming to fix nor rescue the country but to serve the people of Liberia.

“Liberia lives in disgrace. The Liberian people are still yearning for quality living. We want to bring a leadership that will teach our people how to produce their own food. We are going to work with the legislature to put into place the right policies that our people will produce what they eat and what they produce. In short, we will use agriculture to lift our people from poverty and develop this country”, he said.

Rev. Kermue thanked the Executive Committee members for his nomination and hard work and sacrifices they continue to make to keep the party up. He encouraged representative aspirants of the party to establish blocs when elected to champion the true essence of representations.

He further said in his ninety days, his administration will make sure that Liberia has a clean city, sanitation and water, underprivileged young people will be taken from the streets and place to where they will be trained in technical and vocational skills among others.

Making remarks on behalf of the legislative aspirants, Norah S. G. Cooper told her colleagues that it was time for them to work hard to be elected to represent the people of Liberia. She assured her fellow aspirants of cordial working relationships in the interest of the party and the people of Liberia.

For his part, the National Chairman of the party Attorney N. Dickson R. Tamba asserted that the DPPL was going to have a presidential hopeful and he was excited to chair the special convention that nominated and endorsed the Standard Bearer of the party.

“So we want to assure the Liberian people that it is not about the multitude but the quality of people that come to the table with leadership which the party places premium on. We have a ticket of integrity and a constituency that is deeply rooted in the country and the time has come to rebuild Liberia on a firm foundation and this party, when given the opportunity by the Liberian people on October 10, 2023 will make the difference”, he assured.
