DILLON LAUNCHES BID FOR SENATE -Cautions against Campaign Violence

The candidate for the 2019 Montserrado County Senatorial By-Election for the four Collaborating Political Parties, Mr. Abraham Darius Dillon officially launched his campaign at the Liberty Party’s headquarters in Congo Town yesterday. Mr. Dillon expressed his disenchantment over what he termed as ‘campaign violence and misbehavior’ that is ongoing in District #15 of Montserrado County; citing the destruction of campaign materials belonging to Telia Urey who is a representative candidate in the ensuing by-elections.

He condemned the act in the district and said it is uncivilized and pointed out that those responsible for the ruthlessness belong to the camp of the ruling establishment, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and called on the National Elections Commission (NEC) and the Liberia National Police (LNP) to swiftly intervene and bring the perpetrators to justice in order to avoid its recurrence.

Mr. Dillon said despite the political diversity in Liberia, Liberians must always demonstrate civility and maturity to show that democracy in the country is maturely developing.

The Montserrado County candidate who is also the Vice President for political affairs of the Liberty Party, also declared his campaign officially launched to the people of the county; including supporters, well-wishers, fans and sympathizers, stating that his Campaign Team is meant to coordinate, strategize and advice.

He said his campaign team, which targets 2550 men and women or more, will host at least 150 persons per district on the campaign team that will be named in each of the 17 districts of Montserrado County subsequently steer the affairs of his campaign.

The campaign was launched under the banner of the Movement for Abraham Darius Dillon as Senator (MADDAS) on Tuesday June 11, 2019, at the Headquarters of the Liberty Party in Congo Town, Monrovia during a press conference that was also attended by cross-section of partisans of the opposition bloc.

His campaign repertoire began with heartfelt gratitude to his family, the four opposition collaborating political parties, the general public and the media that he mentioned has always demonstrated its unique role by being responsive to ensure the dissemination of information in the public interest.

Mr. Dillon said his Campaign Team is chaired by Mr. Wilmot Paye, coordinated by Mr. Martin Kollah and others. As part of the Press/Propaganda/Communication Team; he named Mr. Kla Toomey as Chief Campaign Spokesperson, Mo Ali as Campaign Spokesman UP, Alysious Toe Campaign Spokesman ANC and Yefuleh Giddings Campaign Spokesman ALP.

Top on the list of Advisors are former Vice President Joseph N. Boakai ; Charles W. Brumskine, Benoni Urey, Alexander B. Cummings, Nyonblee  Karngar Lawrence and several others. On the part of the Diaspora Campaign Team, Mr. Dillon listed a number of persons headed by Emmanuel Yartoe Chairman and George Lobbo Spokesman including a list of eminent members.
