In the wake of demand within the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) for the release of the lawyers’ report, competent sources within the CPP hinted this paper that the political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) Mr. Alexander B. Cummings has been vindicated by the report, while at the same time the ANC has written the Chairman of the Collaborating Political Party (CPP) Joseph Nyuma Boakai, requesting for the release of the copies of the report from the lawyers.
In a letter addressed to Mr. Boakai from the ANC and signed by its National Chairman Senator Daniel Naatehn, the party said It has come to its attention that subject to the ongoing framework saga, the lawyers have responded since last Thursday, October 14, 2021 to written request sent to them by the CPP Chair, Senator Nyonblee Karngar Lawrence.
The party said however, none of the CPP structure, which include the National Advisory Committee (NAC), the National Executive Committee and the Secretariat has been informed of these developments nor given copies of these letters as is the practice. It added that as a constituent party of the CPP, the ANC is represented on all of these structures to ensure smooth flow of information between the CPP and our executive committee.
The party furthered that the allegation of “nefarious alterations” and fraudulent inclines to the framework document made by Mr. Benoni Urey of the All Liberia Party (ALP) and repeated by Senator Nyonblee Karngar Lawrence of the Liberty Party are of grave concern to its executives, partisans and the general public.
The letter went on to say that hence, any attempt at concluding the issue should be done with transparency and openness to the parties and the public as have been the allegations. It said therefore, the ANC finds it alarming that the communication to the lawyers and the lawyer’s response have not been shared with the structures of the CPP or the respective parties including the ANC which stands accused.
“As such, we write to officially request confirmation of the existence of these letters and submission of copies of both letters which include the request letter from CPP and the response from the lawyers. We expect that you will provide copies to us by Thursday, October 21, 2021 as same is reasonable time for such request”, the party concluded.
It can be recalled that while reading the findings of the National Advisory Council that held Mr. Cummings liable, Senator Lawrence stated that she was forwarding the report to the lawyers for their advice. Mr. Cummings stoutly dismissed the report linking him to the alteration, stressing that he will definitely be vindicated by the lawyers’ reports. Senator Lawrence also admitted of receiving initial response from the lawyers when she was turning over the mantle of authority to Mr. Boakai at the ceremony held last Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Headquarters of the Unity Party, the development which prompted the ANC to demand the release of the report to the public so as to prove their point that Mr. Cummings is not found wanting in the saga.
