Commerce Ministry Seizes Contaminated Rice -Promises to Dispose of Them Today

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has seized and quarantined a consignment of a considerable quantity of rice at the Freeport of Monrovia following verification of water had entered a shipping vessel that conveyed the products into the country thereby contaminating the products.

According to a press released signed by Mr. Jacob N.B. Parley, the Ministry will begin the disposal of the rice at the Wein Town disposal site in Paynesville commencing on Today, March 2, 2021 at 8:00 am. The release said the Ministry is working with all line ministries and agencies to ensure proper disposal of the damaged commodity

While commending all stakeholders and businesses for their cooperation and assuring the safety of all commodities entering the Liberian markets, the release said that the public can be assured that no such unwholesome community will enter the market.

The Ministry, the release concluded, will provide further updates throughout and at the conclusion of the disposal exercise.
