The Solicitor General of Liberia, Cllr. Sayma Syrenius Cephus has lauded all State parties, eminent persons from across the world and civil society organizations for the election of Mr. Karim A.A. Khan as Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
According to Cllr. Cephus, Mr. Khan’s election represents a truly collective outcome.
Cllr. Cephus is Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the ICC and Focal Person to the Nineteeth Session of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP) of the International Criminal Court held in New York, the United States, during which Mr. Khan was elected.
“It is seen as the beginning of a new era of international criminal justice where victims and survivors will see a more effective Court that will deliver justice in the region and in the cause of advancing humanity” Cllr. Cephus said
“The Republic of Liberia congratulates Mr. Karim Khan QC and pledges to support him in the discharge of his critical mandate. The challenges ahead are ours to collectively bear. Let us get to work in the interest of fairness and justice”, Cllr. Cephus concluded.
