The stature of Cllr. Sayma Serenius Cephus, Solicitor General and Chief Prosecutor of Liberia with the African Bar Association soared over the weekend with his appointment to chair the Planning Committee of the 2022 Annual Conference of the continental legal body sequel to the recommendation of the Governing Council which found it wise to repose its confidence in him and his co-appointees on the account of their previous satisfactory performance.
According to a letter addressed to Cllr. Cephus dated December 31, 2022 and signed by its President Hannibal Uwaifo, Esq, the terms of reference of the committee among others include, overall planning and execution of all plans for the conference approved by the President of the Association and or the Governing Executive Council, contact and invitation of special guests, including the keynote speaker, special resource persons and other participants, seeking sponsorship, partners, collaborators for the conference, and fund raising for the budget of the conference jointly prepared with the office of the VP Budget and Finance and approved by the President and invitation of all bar associations, law societies, law associations ,etc and adequately publicizing the conference.
It can be recalled that during its last year’s edition which was held in Lilongwe, Malawi on August 7, 2022, the African Bar Association, the umbrella institution of all legal minds on the African Continent formalized the appointment of Cllr. Sayma Syrenius Cephus, Solicitor General and Chief Prosecutor of Liberia as the maiden Chairman of the Advisory Council of the African Bar Association, the preferment he got when was recommended by former Presidents of the continental legal body who recently attended the annual conference held in Niamey, Republic of Niger.
