China Promotes Global Cross-Culture Understanding -30 Liberians Out for Media Capacity Building Seminar

MONROVIA – Over the next two weeks, 30 Liberian media professionals will be exploring international communication strategies, digital media technologies, and cultural innovation, while visiting renowned Chinese media institutions as part of China’s approach to development and cooperation towards empowering people with knowledge and skills that transcend borders.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Lui Qi, first level researcher (Deputy Division level) of E-Commerce Division Department of Commerce, Hunan Province discussed the importance of solidarity among developing nations.

“China has always stood with developing countries through thick and thin,” he also noted that, reflecting on decades of collaboration designed to improve livelihoods, advance economies, and contribute to global peace.

These efforts are not confined to grand infrastructure or trade deals alone; they also focus on empowering people at a grassroots level by training professionals, sharing knowledge, and building the skills needed to thrive in the modern world.

Such exchanges have far reaching significance, he said, noting that “they will not only enrich the professional capabilities of attendees but also forge personal connections that lasts long after the official programs end.

Also, Mr. Peng Tieguang, vice President of Hunan International Business Vocational College said the media serves as a bridge for cross-cultural communication and a striking force in advancing international cooperation while bridging cognitive divides.

By investing in training and people-to-people exchanges, he noted, China hopes to inspire a new generation of storytellers who can share balanced perspectives and build stronger ties between nations.

Mr. Nyantee S. Togba who is heading the Liberian delegation spoke that the opening session, expressing gratitude to the Chinese Embassy and the host college for the opportunity.

“This program is not just about learning media tools it is about understanding China’s culture and development model, and building bridges between our peoples,” Togba stated.

He also reaffirmed Liberia’s dedication to strengthening bilateral relations with China, including adherence to the One China Policy.

Since 1950, China has trained thousands of professionals from developing countries. Hunan International Business Vocational College has hosted nearly 500 programs covering fields from public health to modern media, building a legacy of shared expertise and mutual respect.

As the seminar unfolds, the message is clear: China’s cooperation with African countries is not limited to economic investments or diplomatic ties; it is also rooted in people to people exchanges, growing together, and building a shared future.

Whether through media collaboration, cultural exchange, or professional training, these efforts are testaments to China’s belief that sustainable development and lasting friendship begin with the people.
