China Makes Donation to MCSS -Says Largess in Support of Boakai’s ARREST Agenda

The Ambassador of China near Monrovia has donated an assortment of supplies to the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), including food, stationery and sports equipment.

Speaking at the Supporting Monrovia Public School event yesterday, November 14, 2024, Ambassador Yin Chengwe said the occasion played an important role in execution of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for inclusive development (AAID).

He expressed the hope that hope that the support would encourage the children to study hard as education is the bedrock of a society.

“Public schools provide children with equal access to education, social responsibility, and positive values,” he said. “We hope these resources will help Monrovia’s public schools function better, provide students with nutritious meals, facilitate more sports activities, and boost their confidence and happiness.

“We hope that the support will help mobilize more resources. As the saying goes, ‘It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to cultivate a person.’ Education is a long-term endeavour that requires continuous attention and support from all sectors and partners.”

He avowed commitment by the government of China to join the collective efforts in Liberia, and do its best to create a better environment for the healthy growth of every student and the hard work of every teacher.

“The efforts could start with a bag of rice, a barrel of oil, a can of milk powder, a piece of board, etc.,” Ambassador Yin said. “We hope that the support will deepen the friendship between China and Liberia.”

China and Liberia are good friends and partners, he said, and added: “Not long ago, the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation was successfully held in Beijing. President Xi Jinping met with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, and the two sides announced the elevation of the China-Liberia relationship to a strategic partnership.”

According to him, this means that in the future, China and Liberia will further strengthen bilateral relations, expand practical cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges.

Ambassador Yin said China stands ready to implement the outcomes of the meeting between the two Presidents and the FOCAC Summit. “Today’s event is a testament,” he noted.
