CHAP Hails Concern Worldwide -Says LIFE Project Funded by Irish Aid Is Game-Changer

A Liberian NGO, Community of Hope Agriculture Project (CHAP), along with various Liberian organizations, has extended heartfelt thanks to Concern Worldwide Liberia for its exceptional commitment to Sustainable Organization Development (SOD) in the country—the first of its kind in a decade.

 

CHAP also thanked its Liberian partners, such LACD, CEC, Rainbow etc., also implementing under Concern Worldwide Liberia in RiverCess and Grand Bassa Counties under the Livelihood Innovation Food Security Entrepreneurship (LIFE) with funding from Irish Aid.

A CHAP release says the initiative is aimed at improving food security and entrepreneurship opportunities in these regions, fostering sustainable development and community resilience, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and collective impact in achieving the program’s goals.

The group highlighted the dynamic partnership and mentorship provided by Concern Worldwide, enabling national and local partners to maximize their potential. The organization emphasized that the level of support received from this collaboration is unprecedented in their experience.

“This reflects the core values of Concern Worldwide, under the leadership of Country Director Mrs. Ciara Begley and her dedicated team,” CHAP noted.

The organization urged other international entities to learn from Concern Worldwide’s model, which emphasizes sustainable transformation and improved service delivery through close collaboration and constructive feedback with partners.

CHAP has expressed pride in having Concern Worldwide Liberia as its primary mentor in Sustainable Organization Development over the past two years. The organization actively promotes the consumption of locally sourced products through workshops and training, celebrating the achievements of local partners and facilitating their success.

CHAP also conveyed deep respect for Mrs. Begley, Moh, and the entire Concern Worldwide team, urging others to express gratitude for the empowerment they have provided, enabling CHAP to achieve sustainability.

Concern Worldwide’s first engagement in Liberia was in 1991 with an emergency intervention. They have been operating continuously in Liberia since 1996.

Concern Worldwide is working with communities in Liberia to fight chronic poverty and establish sustainable resilience in community programs using local approaches.

Concern Worldwide (often referred to as Concern) is Ireland’s largest aid and humanitarian agency, since its foundation in 1968, it has worked in 50 countries. According to its latest annual report, Concern helped 28.6 million of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people in 2019, while responding to 82 emergencies in 24 countries.

Concern aims to help those living in the world’s poorest countries. Concern is engaged in long-term development work, in addition to emergency relief in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

Concern’s core work focuses on health, hunger and humanitarian response in emergencies, the charity works in partnership with small community groups as well as governments and large global organizations.
