A week after the appointment Mr. Oliver Dillon, a brother of the tough talking Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), as Director of Post, Ministry of Transport, the Chairman of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has mandated the Minister, Mr. Samuel A. Wlue to withdraw the appointment and appoint a qualified CDCian as a replacement.
Addressing a news conference at the Headquarters of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change on Friday March 19, 2021 in Monrovia, Mr. Morlu said the interest of the party remains supreme in every governance institution and the appointment of Oliver Dillon is a disservice to the CDCians who are qualified and searching for job.
The Chairman said as Chairman of the Party, he has recommended dozens of qualified CDCians and supporters to several Ministries and Agency but unfortunately those Ministries and Agencies treated theirs recommendations as trash.
“we are on record for recommending dozens of qualified Partisans and supporters to different Agencies and Ministries of Government, which is the party right to do and most of the ministries and agencies treated our recommendation as trash but we don’t have issue because you are working in the interest of the president so we don’t have problem and we never made noise about rejecting our recommendations, but to learn that where we recommended dozens of CDCians for them to be employed and we got no vacancy feedback, that, that ministry created a position for a non-CDCian while CDCians themselves are wondering because the job they cannot find and you are giving job to non-CDCians, the job you created to be paid with Taxpayer dollars in government that they labored to bring to power is unacceptable”, Mr. Morlu said.
Mr. Morlu furthered that cabinet Ministers are serving according to the will and pleasure of the President, meaning that they are bound to work assiduously of the president so as to promote the program and agenda of his administration such as the Pro Poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity which is geared towards transforming the development landscape of the country. He said in so doing, the interest of the party under whose platform the President was elected and governing should remain supreme.
Mr. Morlu urged all CDCians to demonstrate tolerance and good governance and keep the love for party and love for one another adding that these things should be demonstrated in all government Ministries and Agencies. He asserted that if anyone loves the President and the party, they should make everything possible to accomplish the mandate of the president in their various institutions and also prioritize the interest of the CDCians in the place of works.
Meanwhile the Revolutionary National Youth League of the party said its attention has been drawn to the recent wave of violent acts and anti-democratic tenets across the country, pointing to the reported throwing of petrol bombs at the residence of the Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, Cllr. Joseph Nagbe and the headquarters of the National Elections Commission (NEC). The organization said it is squarely blaming the opposition bloc for masterminding these unfortunate developments.
In a press release issued over the weekend under the signature of Hassan Newland, Deputy Secretary General for Administration said the organization is categorically condemning what it called a barbaric act on our democracy and called on the Government to take legal and constitutional actions to put an end to this creeping level of domestic terrorism and subversive attempt to undermine the peace of the country.
“As a body of national consciousness, the Youth League likes to state clearly that this recent opposition sponsored violent crackdowns on public officials and state institutions are erupting at a time when elements in the opposition community are issuing threats that amount to a “Declaration of War” on the hard-earned peace and stability and also serves as a recipe for chaos in this country”, the release said.
In reference to recent comments made by Hon. Francis Sakila Nyumalin of Lofa County, the Youth League said the that lawmaker clearly threatened the dissolution of the democratically elected government of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the setting up of an interim administration should the National Elections Commission fail to certificate Mr. Brownie J. Samukai who was recently elected on the ticket of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP). The group said that such a statement is a clear manifestation of the desperation in the opposition to acquire power by undemocratic means and such must not be taken for granted by the Government of Liberia and its international partners.
The Revolutionary National Youth League said it would like to reiterate its stand against what she called unfounded and politically motivated comment and it should not be taken lightly especially when it is coming from ranking members of the opposition at the level of the Liberian Legislature.
“At this critical juncture, the Youth League admonishes the Government of Liberia, the United States Embassy near Monrovia, ECOWAS, and all other international partners to take seriously such comments and requests that the National Security Apparatuses invite Hon. Nyumalin for questioning or to provide clarity on his assertions as it is in itself a threat to national security”, the statement continued
The statement furthered that the current trending issues regarding the certification of candidates who won the Senatorial and Representative Bi- Elections across the country are strictly judicial. In order to remain in adherence to the Principle of Independence of the three branches of government and to also ensure the supremacy of the opinion of the Supreme Court, the youth group said it calls on the CPP to make use of the courts and to also maintain the peace by obeying the rule of law.
The Youth group took a damning look at the CPP stating that most of them must embrace the shame and embarrassment of poorly handling the affairs of the country over the last twelve years of trust and confidence that was reposed in their failed leadership. It stated further Instead of questioning the quality of leadership being dispensed by this government, the Collaborating Political Parties must locate in her pitiful existence a moment of intense soul searching and political repentance.
It concluded by calling on the people of Lofa County to clearly disassociate themselves from Hon. Nyumalin’s comments, which is intended to undermine the nurturing peace and stability of Liberia and its democratic gains.
