Armed Gangsters Brutalize Man, Attack Unarmed AFL Personnel

MONROVIA – George K. Kennedy, a commercial tricycle rider, was brutally flogged by a group of men armed with deadly weapons in the New Hope Community in Louisiana Township, Montserrado County.

The victim said he had no dealings with land matters in the area but was shocked while driving from his uncle’s house, Louisiana former Township Commissioner Mr. Solomon T. Miller on Wednesday afternoon October 30, 2024, when gangsters led by a man identified as Ohmuru Sheriff alias DOC and his brother Sheriff alias (Dangoty) based in Samoka Town, jam-packed a silver jeep with some on motorcycles drove in the community and attacked him with malicious beating, identifying him as Mr. Miller who is his uncle at the same time threatening that they were prepared to kill him.

“What happened the other day was some soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia who bought land from Mr. Solomon T. Miller few years ago came to see their land,” explained the victim. “According to them, they went on a peace mission to Mali and upon return to Liberia, they arrived on the land and saw all their cornerstones broken and they could not recognize their boundaries. They arrested two men they met on the land that they believe to be the ones that carried out the act but they later on left the guys to go because Mr. Miller told the AFL personnel that they had all rights to the land that was deeded to them and only needed resurvey to know the exact demarcations, the victim of the recent violent in Louisiana said.”

An eyewitness said after the violence in which he was severely wounded, they took the helpless body of George and dropped him off before the Peace Clinic alongside the Caldwell to Louisiana Highway where he was later recognized and rescued by some cyclists who rushed him on emergency to the nearby government clinic where he was hospitalized.

He is currently suffering internally and has arranged to seek an X-ray based on renowned medical referral.

“They were over 25 men,” the victim further narrated his ordeal. “They put me in the jeep trunk while escaping the community when we bumped into the four uniformed AFL personnel. They were without arms leaving the community after concluding talks with Mr. Miller. Ohmuru Sheriff alias (DOC) stopped his convoy of tugs and ordered his men to disrobe the army officers and beat on them.

“One of the officers who remained standing in his position was hit on the head with a sharp object. I myself witnessed everything that happened to the army men because I pretended unconscious to save my life from the hands of the gang.”

The state of affairs in Louisiana on last Wednesday stirred panic amongst residents and it was responded to by heavily armed reinforcement of the Armed Forces of Liberia from Harrisburg including additional arm police from the Police Support Unit of the Liberia National Police.

The state security rushed at the home of Mr. Solomon T. Miller to rescue the situation but to no avail as the thugs had already made their way out of the area.

The current Commissioner of Louisiana Township, Moses White was contacted via mobile phone to speak to the situation but said he had no idea about the happenings up to press time.

“I foresee uncontrollable violence on the increase in Louisiana if the government failed to intervene rapidly as the situation is getting out of hand seeing,” said Miller. “Lawless people terrorizing peaceful and law-abiding citizens in the Township. It is life threatening. I was attacked at home and the same gangsters broke my window glasses, threw rocks and destroyed several items in my living room. My brother was once attacked because of me; if I were not law-abiding, I could get the support of establishing my own violent force to fight back but I cannot go that route because of my personality. The law must protect me!”

He continued: “I have written to the Minister of Justice a complaint filed and I await and also written to the Director of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency with a complaint against Momolu Kiadii who works as Commander for LDEA in Samoka Town. He is one of the persons illegally claiming that he has land on my property that he cannot legally defend in any court of competent jurisdiction. He goes to places of my property and discharge firearm putting fear in the people around,” the former Commissioner averred.

Solomon T. Miller, the former Township Commissioner of Louisiana told The Analyst he is requesting to the government of Liberia for security presence, not for his family members only but to also assign arm security officers in the area in order to swiftly respond to violent incidents to avoid escalating hostility and loss of lives.

The Kennedy’s explains ordeal

“I decided not to run traffic that afternoon because of my toothache pain and went to my uncle’s (Mr. Miller) place to park and rest for a while. I received a called from my aunt and I was getting out of the place to go to her call. On my way going, I saw the silver color jeep and the guys jumped down and starting coming to me angrily with weapons so I got afraid and began to run. The man who served as their master started shouting, that’s the Mr. Miller man; catch and beat him. I ran in the yard of a closed neighbor named Mr. Nyanti for rescue when I fell down on the carpet grass. Right away, about 25 men rushed on and started beating me with electric wires, steel rods and other instruments. There were no grown-ups in the yard besides the kids. I began shouting out for help and asking them what I did to you to deserve beating on me like this, but the more I talk. And they continued torturing me.

“Because I knew that Mr. Miller is my uncle and they kept saying today, ‘we will finish you’, I remained silent. It got to a point I could no longer withstand the pain and imagining their intention, I acted like I went off because they were beating every part of my body. The owner of the yard, Mr. Nyanti, was coming from out and started to ask what happen. They started to lay false accusation on me that I was caught with a single barrel gun.

“Unbelievably, Mr. Nyanti who knows me very well knowing that I am not a violent person or criminal asked them to stop beating me unmercifully. He said that there is law and order and they could take me to the police. But they insisted and their master pointed a single barrel pistol at Mr. Nyanti, saying ‘stay back; we did not come to you; that Mr. Miller we are dealing with and any attempt to get closer we will blow you off’. The children started crying that they have killed uncle George. Then, I said, ‘my brothers, you guys can kill me because I am not Mr. Miller. Immediately, Ohmuru Sheriff who lead the group said the man is still alive you guys must finish him and the beating continued.”
