MONROVIA – Archbishop Dr. Matilda G. Tarr, Convener of the Liberia Women’s National Prayer Walk and Tsunami 2026, has announced plans for a nationwide prayer march scheduled for December 30, 2025.

The event is aimed at seeking divine guidance and direction for Liberia’s three branches of government and the nation’s future, according Archbishop Tarr who made the disclosure on Tuesday when she appeared at the Ministry of Information regular press briefing, where she provided updates on preparations for the upcoming Women’s National Prayer Walk.

Addressing journalists, the Archbishop, who also serves as Counselor at the Liberian Senate and Chairperson of African Women for Jesus to All Nations (AWIAN), commended Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah for what she described as visible improvements and a welcoming atmosphere at the Ministry.

She said the prayer walk is divinely inspired and comes at a critical time when the country needs spiritual direction, unity, and leadership renewal.

According to Archbishop Tarr, the focus of the prayer walk will be on Liberia’s three branches of government, the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary as well as the nation’s youth and emerging leaders.

“God has spoken that we should pray for the three branches of government and other leaders, especially this generation of leaders,” she said. “These branches are the engine of this nation, and what they do determines the next step Liberia takes.”

She explained that the prayer initiative is intended to seek divine intervention to “change the narrative of the nation” and prepare Liberia for what she described as a “beautiful challenge” in the coming year.

The Archbishop announced that the prayer walk will take place on December 30 at 8:00 a.m., with participants marching from Vamoma House to the Capitol Building. She emphasized that the act of walking symbolizes prayer and spiritual warfare carried out peacefully.

“When you are walking, you are praying,” she stated. “The Lord says we do not have to fight; we only need to walk and pray, and the victory will be given.”

She noted that holding the prayer walk a day before the New Year is strategic, as participants will intercede ahead of 2026, asking for divine protection, wisdom, prosperity, and peace for the nation.

Archbishop Tarr further disclosed that 12 women, whom she described as anointed “spiritual mothers,” have been set aside to make prophetic declarations over Liberia during the prayer exercise.

She called on journalists to help amplify the message nationwide and encouraged participation from all segments of society, including civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, students, market women, faith leaders, and ordinary citizens.

“All Liberians are invited to march in white, holding the national flag, to give honor to Liberia,” she said. “There is no better way to honor this nation at this time than to come together in prayer.”

She stressed that the prayer walk is not controlled by any individual or political institution but is a spiritual mandate centered on national unity and divine purpose.

Speaking on the broader vision, Archbishop Tarr described African Women for Jesus to All Nations as a movement dedicated to nation-building and positioning Liberia as a spiritual “womb of Africa,” in recognition of its status as Africa’s first independent republic.

She expressed confidence that sustained national prayer would usher in peace, development, and generational transformation.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we can make our country great,” she said. “I believe in Liberia, I believe in our leaders, and I believe God will be glorified through this assignment.”

The Archbishop concluded by thanking the Ministry of Information for providing the platform to share the message and called on all Liberians to spread the word ahead of December 30 Walk, to intercede for the nation’s progress.
