MONROVIA – Members of the Liberian Senate and House of Representatives resume the second session of the 55th Legislature on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Press releases from both wings of the Legislature say the ceremony for the opening of the 2nd Session will be marked by parade of members of both Houses of the Legislature and hosting of their respective county flags.
The opening ceremony according to the protocol will be graced by the Chief Executive H.E Joseph N. Boakai Sr, President of the Republic of Liberia, officials of Government and members of the Diplomatic Corps as well as civil society organizations, are expected to grace the opening ceremony.
The House of Representatives said the ceremony which will begin at 10am, will witness a grand march by members of both Houses of the Legislature from the Executive Manson side to the front of the Rotunda before going to their separate chambers.
The colorful program will also witness the hosting of the Flags of the Country and the Fifteen (15) Counties by the Sargent At-Arms of the Legislature.
Following the resumption of normal Legislative work, members of that august body will give due consideration to the scrutiny and passage of several key legislative instruments.
Fellow media practitioners, after parade, members of the House will assemble at the Monrovia City Hall where the presiding officer of the House (Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon) will welcome his colleagues and deliver his opening address setting the legislative agenda for the sessions ahead.
Thereafter a reception will take place in the Ballroom of the City Hall.

Senate release said during the Senate program, President Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence will deliver an opening statement and set the Senate’s agenda for the second session.
Pro Tempore Lawrence will also use the ceremony to outline accomplishments during the 1st session, to include legislations passed, confirmations, and other instruments in committee room, as well as expectations during the 2nd session.
