UP Unleashes ‘Green Seas’ On Monrovia -Deepens Grips on Power, Unveiling Newly Acquired HQ

MONROVIA – The nation’s capital was painted an overwhelming greenish on Saturday, December 6, 2025, as the ruling Unity Party (UP) executed a massive display of political potency and organizational resilience. The event—dubbed the National Homecoming Fund Drive, and Grand Unveiling of the New National Headquarters—was arguably the largest post-2023 electoral gathering, marking a definitive statement of the party’s strength and commitment to institutional permanency. The ruling part intentionally showcased its strength, unity, and commitment to institutional permanency. The massive turnout, with thousands of supporters from all 15 counties converging on Monrovia, officials say, demonstrated its widespread appeal and organizational resilience. It was marked by a strict adherence to the Code of Conduct, with government vehicles and public property noticeably absent, signaling a new era of fiscal prudence and accountability in public service. The team of reporters of THE ANALYST who closely followed the tumultuous event now reports.

After a long time of planning, including using the various media platform, human and resource mobilization, strategizing and marketing the major event, the ruling Unity Party came out strong to make a statement of strength and unity, pulling their members and supporters from all corners not only in Monrovia but beyond the nation’s capital, bringing them from far and near in a unique celebratory mood that will for a long time remain an unforgettable day as far as politics is concerned

From all 15 counties, thousands of jubilant partisans, executives, and top government officials converged, transforming the streets leading to the Congo Town headquarters into a vibrant, moving tapestry of green and white. The energy was palpable, with supporters—the ‘UPists’—arriving in lappa suits, shirts, and T-shirts bearing the party’s distinctive traditional colors.

A notable and widely praised element of the day was the strict absence of government vehicles and public property being used for the party event. This was a direct, calculated demonstration of the administration’s strict adherence to the Code of Conduct and principles of good governance.

This practice represents a radical departure from past norms, where the use of state assets for partisan activities was commonplace.

The fact that the highest officials, including President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr. and Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, arrived in private or party-leased vehicles, powerfully underscored the administration’s unwavering commitment to the rule of law and the separation of party and state. For many, this visible accountability signals a new culture of fiscal prudence in public service.

The mobilization effort was staggering. By mid-day, the crowd surrounding the National Headquarters was so immense that radio announcements and various platforms urged additional partisans to remain home, as the venue had reached capacity.

Contributing to the massive turnout were top politicians who arrived with huge followings from their respective constituencies, alongside a sizeable number of supporters of defecting lawmakers.

The atmosphere reached a crescendo with the arrival of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the Standard Bearer, dressed in full party colors. His presence revitalized the buoyancy the partisans’ jubilant spirits at the scene, bringing the fond memories back to power with his narrow 2023 victory.

In his welcome remarks, National Chairman Rev. Luther Tarpeh set the tone, passionately declaring the new building a “monument to collective sacrifice” and a stable base for the party’s future.

Vice President Koung and Speaker of the House, Richard Nagbe Koon, both reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to coordinating governance to deliver on the people’s expectations.

Delivering the keynote address, President Boakai wove his familiar call for accountability with a message of hope. He pointed to the non-use of government resources as evidence of his administration’s seriousness.

“We are here today, not by abusing the people’s trust or their resources. We are here because we adhere to the laws we swore to uphold. The misuse of public property for private or party gain ends now,” the President stated firmly.

He explicitly tied the new headquarters to his comprehensive development plan, the ARREST Agenda, stating that the building must become the “hub of relentless work” dedicated to its successful implementation.

A core element of the day was the national fund drive, geared towards purchasing a suitable parcel of land and financing the construction of a permanent national headquarters. The success of the effort was touted as a testament to the loyalty and financial sacrifice of ordinary partisans.

It was announced that a total of $1.3 million cash had been collected as of the last count on Saturday. Lofa County led the contributions, followed by Bong, Nimba, Montserrado, and Margibi, underscoring the broad national support for the ruling party’s infrastructure goals.

Adding to the celebratory mood were significant legislative gains, with at least four sitting lawmakers officially defecting to the UP family: Austin Taylor (Maryland), Sumo Mulbah (Montserrado), Prince Koniah (Bong), and Alex Grant (RiverCess).

Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah who also represents District #1, Lofa County, added flavor to those who pledged support and loyalty to President Boakai.

Though his statement fell short of making a frantic declaration for the ruling party, Fallah who was expelled from his Congress for Democratic Change party in the wake of the removal of former Speaker Fonati J. Koffa, must have implicitly gone the side of UP giving the fact that he reminds party-less and will want to give all the best for his kinsman in the Presidency.

The atmosphere was electric, defined by a cascade of dancing, rhythmic drumming, and fervent singing.

The line-up of dignitaries underscored the importance of the occasion: The program concluded with a dazzling array of traditional and modern Liberian entertainment, ensuring the celebratory mood continued well into the evening.

The National Homecoming and Headquarters Unveiling was not just a political rally; it was a powerful, unifying statement that the Unity Party is firmly planted, organized, and ready to lead Liberia into a new era of good governance.
