Snowe Heads ECOWAS Delegation to Cote D’ivoire -To pay condolence visit, meet with Speaker of CIV parliament
Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe of Bomi County, and a member of the ECOWAS Parliament representing Liberia will head a delegation from the regional legislative body to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and perform specific diplomatic mission from 23 to 27 of June, 2021.
According to a communication released from the institution and signed by Mr. K. Bertin Some, Acting Secretary General of the ECOWAS Parliament, the purpose of the mission is specifically aimed at conveying the heartfelt condolences of the Community Parliament to the National Assembly of Cote d’Ivoire as well as to the Government and People of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire on the death of Mr. Sale Poll which occurred on the 11th of May, 2021. Until his death, Mr. Poll served as member of the National Assembly of Cote d’Ivoire and Member of the Third and Fourth Legislature of the Ecowas Parliament.
The release furthered that as part of the mission, Senator Snowe and his team will have a meeting with the President of the National Assembly of that country to exchange views on the modalities of election of ECOWAS members of Parliament (MPs) by direct universal suffrage as well as hold discussions on issues of concerns pertaining to the sub-region.
Mr. Snowe over the years has become a major contributor of ideas and solutions to trending issues within the sub-regional organization, one of which was his recent call on ECOWAS leaders to take a robust look at the situation in Mali where the military took over power and got the country suspended from the membership of ECOWAS.
