MONROVIA : The Chairman of the Liberty Party, Musa Hassan Bility has stated that the party under his leadership has initiated action to replace Senator Nyonblee Karngar –Lawrence and others who are representing the party at the level of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) since they remain suspended from all activities of the Liberty Party and as such they were not qualified to represent the party and has threatened to take action to remedy the anomalies if the leadership of CPP reneges.
Speaking shortly during press conference held last evening at his Liberty Party headquarters on 19th Street, Sinkor after receiving a copy of the letter written to Senator Lawrence from the National Elections Commission (NEC) which was copied him, Mr. Bility said that as a respecter the rule of law and peace, the decision of the party must be respected and ensure that these decisions are reflected in the structure of the party.
“The Executive Committee is going to meet in the next 24 hours to make a determination of a new list to be submitted to the CPP so that those who are purporting to be representing LP will be withdrawn.”
He said the LP under his leadership will not participate in CPP’s activities until the communication is responded to and the decision must be respected. He called on the Unity Party (UP), the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and the All Liberian Party (ALP) to know that the LP has made a decision and that decision should be respected.
He said as a party, they wrote the National Elections Commission (NEC) to ascertain if it was true or not that the party’s 2021 constitution was withdrawn from NEC and fortunately the electoral body clearly responded to their communication stating that there was no truth in the matter and that it recognizes the constitution adopted during the 2021 special national convention held in Gbarnga, Bong County.
He said right now the party is focused on the special convention slated for Friday and Saturday, December 17 and 18, 2021 where far reaching decisions, according to him will be made and will centered on the direction the party should take come 2023 especially who should the party endorse to clinch the sole presidential ticket under the CPP or whether it should field a candidate or not in 2023.
Mr. Bility again questioned the legal basis for Senator Nyonblee to jettison the decision freely reached by the highest decision making body of the party, the General Assembly, stressing that there is absolutely anybody in the party who can just unilaterally take any decision that will affect the party.
He reiterated his earlier statement that there will zero tolerance for those who default their payment of dues and that for those who were suspended including Senator Lawrence and others, they have 90 days to balance their books otherwise they will be finally expelled from the party in keeping with the laws of the Liberty party.
