Liberia YMCA Marks 144 Years of Service -Launches 2025 Membership Fund Drive

MONROVIA – The Liberia YMCA announces the celebration of 144 years, marking over a century of empowering young people and communities through service, leadership, and development. As part of this historic milestone, the YMCA is also launching its 2025 Membership Fund Drive, under the inspiring theme “365 Y Every Day; A Better You.”

According to a release from Liberia YMCA, “Key highlights of the anniversary celebration and fund drive is a special Thanksgiving Service held on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Harvest Intercontinental Cathedral Ministry, to give thanks and appreciation to God Almighty for His Divine blessings and guidance upon the YMCA, its staff, and all who have worked to make the YMCA a hub for empowering young people. Other activities of this year’s 144 anniversary celebration and membership fund drive include, community outreach programs, youth leadership workshops, and targeted fundraising initiatives to support the YMCA’s ongoing programs.

“On Monday August 11, 2025, a program will be held in the YMCA Gymnasium on Broad Street, beginning at 10:00 am, with invited guests, YMCA members, and staff of the Liberia YMCA, the Children Vacation Basketball Program participants, YMCA membership campaign committee, and members of the public assembling for the 144 celebration of the YMCA. A special engagement with parents and the public is expected to take place during the program.

“The 2025 Membership Fund Drive which is expected to be launched shortly, seeks to strengthen the YMCA’s ability to serve members year-round, ensuring that programs and activities are accessible to more youth, families, and communities across the nation. Through the “365 Y” initiative, the Liberia YMCA will emphasize continuous engagements, making the YMCA a part of everyday life for personal growth, skills development, and community building.

“The Liberia YMCA invites all members, partners, alumni, and the general public to join in this momentous celebration and to support the Membership Fund Drive. Every contribution will help to ensure that the YMCA continues to create opportunities for personal and community transformation 365 days a year.
